For detecting the pressures occurring at a control valve pressure pickup cells are provided and for processing the pressure measuring signals evaluating electronics are provided which together with the pressure pickup cells is arranged on an intermediate plate associated with the control valve. With this arrangement signals may be formed which monitor and control the mode of operation of the consumer governed by the control valve. By arranging the components necessary for the control circuit on the intermediate plate a standardized design is made possible in which the constructional expenditure is greatly reduced.

With the invention a supply voltage and a control signal are to be supplied via a two-conductor cable to the power stage of a solenoid valve. For this purpose pulse-width modulation is employed, i.e. in a microcomputer the adjusting signal is converted directly as pulse-width-modulated signal via a power stage to an AC voltage. The control signal is obtained from the pulse width in the power stage.

A plurality of mechanically coupled secondarily controlled hydrostatic machines with variable volume are connected to a line with impressed system pressure fed by a primary unit. By reducing the variable volume to 0 in individual hydrostatic machines the remaining machines are subjected to a higher torque which results in a greater pivot angle of the remaining secondary units. As a result the efficiency and controllability are improved. The changeover is effected in dependence upon an upper and lower switching point corresponding to the pivot angle of the unit remaining in engagement.

A control for the speed of rotation of a hydrostatic machine in which the controlled variable and generated in a speed controller and is made up of a proportional component and an integrating component is limited by a limiting signal which is also made up of a predetermined basic value and a ramp signal behaving proportionally to the actual pivot angle of the hydrostatic machine. The limiting signal thus limits the output signal of the speed controller so that a rapid response behaviour is obtained and fluctuations in the settling to the desired speed are reduced.

A secondarily controlled hydrostatic machine with variable volume is connected to a line with impressed system pressure which is fed by a primary unit. By switching over the primary unit the secondary unit is subjected to a displacement amount which results in as large as possible a pivot angle of the secondary unit to obtain the highest possible efficiency. The switching over takes place in dependence upon an upper and lower switching point corresponding to the desired pivot angle range of the secondary unit.

A hydrostatic machine having a fixed displacement volume which is connected to the operating chamber of a hydraulic cylinder which machine is mechanically coupled to a second hydrostatic machine having a variable displacement volume to control the force exerted by the hydraulic cylinder. When control liquid is displaced from the working chamber of the cylinder the first machine acting as a motor drives the second machine which displaces control liquid into an accumulator. Vice versa, liquid is taken from the accumulator and the second machine acting as a motor drives the first machine which feeds liquid into the working chamber. The pressure in the working chamber, or, respectively, the force exerted by the cylinder is maintained constant by a corresponding adjustment of the displacement volume of the second machine.
