A pyrotechnical object is made by compressing a pyrotechnical mass, and introducing into the mass an ignition and combustion accelerator in the form of a propellant powder. The propellant powder could be mixed with the mass prior to compression. Alternatively, the propellant powder could be pressed into an ignition surface of the mass after the pressing. The propellant powder may comprise basic cellulose and/or nitro-cellulose.

Pyrotechnic active mass with ignition and combustion accelerator

A rapid-release smoke hand grenade comprising a manually actuatable igniter head (A) and an active mass member (B), wherein the striker located on the igniter head to initiate the chain of pyrotechnical activity is loaded by means of a safety clip so as to be safe to handle, the smoke-forming means located in the active mass member is in the form of combustible disc-shaped or disc sector-shaped thin leaves (flares) coated with smoke-forming agent based on red phosphorus which practically fill the canister of the active mass member around a capsule for the ignition/bursting unit located therein, the heavy components of this rapid-release smoke hand grenade are held together by connecting elements which are stable when it bursts, and the essential components of the grenade preferably consist of aluminium. In a likewise preferred embodiment the ignition/bursting charge of the ignition/bursting unit consists of a classical detonating charge of aluminium and potassium perchlorate in order to minimise the combustion gases evolved when it reacts.

Rapid-release smoke hand grenade

An exercise firing projectile containing a plurality of pyrotechnic fragmentation devices are expelled from the projectile casing above the target area by an ejection charge, and delay tubes of the fragmentation devices are ignited at the same time by this charge through a central igniter tube contained within the projectile. The active charge of the devices consist of a grainy composite with quick reaction time.

Exercise firing projectile

An infrared radiation-emitting projectile includes a casing and a contact head attached thereto, the casing containing an igniter-destructor capsule centrally positioned therein which contains an igniter-destructor charge, a layer of combustible flakes between the igniter-destructor capsule and the side wall of the casing, and an ignition-expediting material such as red phosphorus between the igniter-destructor capsule and the side wall of the casing.

This invention comprises a process for the preparation of a smoke composition based on hexachloroethane, zinc oxide, and metal powder, in which zinc oxide granules obtained by high compression and subsequent crushing are used as a mixture component and the intermittent burnoff of previous smoke compositions of this type is thus avoided; the invention also concerns a smoke generator filled with such a smoke composition.
