A method for extending the switching matrix of a communication system without interruption which is effected by reserving space for the routing addresses of the largest extension stage both in the header translation table of the interface devices and in the cell header of each ATM cell, and by providing a system split which is used to replace the old switching matrix assemblies with new switching matrix assemblies in steps, the paths via the new switching matrix assemblies, insofar as they lead to the same output-side interface devices as via the old switching matrix assemblies, being addressable using the same routing addresses.

Method for expanding the switching network of a communications system without interrupting operation

A method for aligning packet loss priority information for overload control of a data-packet-switching communications device wherein data packets and respectively allocated packet loss priority information are transmitted to the communications device and buffered in relation to a specific connection. The packet loss priority information is then read from the buffered data packets and modified according to the connection type or the application-specific data traffic type. After the data packet has been switched in the communications device, the original packet loss priority information which was switched with the data packets is re-inserted into the corresponding data packet.

Method for aligning of packet loss priority information in a data-packet switching communication device

A fuel element for a nuclear reactor has fuel rods with nuclear fuel guided through spacers. The spacers are equipped with devices that exert a swirling impulse upon a coolant flowing along the fuel rods. In order to present as little flow resistance as possible for the coolant, these swirl-introducing devices have the form of a vane with a spoonlike or bladelike shape and they extend into the coolant flow. Owing to the shape&#x2014;here the vane is curved in the longitudinal and in the transverse directions&#x2014;practically all cross sections of the vane have such a high geometrical moment of inertia that even a vane made of a thin sheet metal is sufficiently rigid. Fuel elements configured according to the invention are particularly suitable for use in boiling water nuclear reactors.

Fuel assembly

A fuel assembly for a pressurized-water reactor includes fuel rods held in cells of spacers, control rod guide tubes, and a headpiece and a foot piece, by which it is fixed to upper and lower core grids, respectively. A spacer having a first part, which lies on a radially outer side with respect to a longitudinal center axis of the fuel assembly, and a second part, which lies on a radially inner side and is completely surrounded by the first part are included to reduce the size of gaps between fuel assemblies. The second part is formed of Zircaloy. The first part is made of a metallic material, and when compared to the Zircaloy of the second part, has a lower growth in the radial direction, caused by neutron radiation and a higher coefficient of thermal expansion.

Fuel assembly for a pressurized-water reactor

In a transmission system wherein redundant message cells, routed in the course of virtual connections according to the ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) transmission method, are respectively transmitted via redundant transmission paths, a rejection of message cells belonging to a low-priority connection is permitted on the transmission paths to form the total traffic volume. To avoid an overload following the recombination of the message cell streams transmitted via the redundant transmission paths, the message cells of a connection of low priority are received by only one transmission path. For a number of connections, a selection identification character defines the transmission path by which the message cells belonging to these connections are received.

A nuclear reactor fuel assembly includes a fuel assembly base, a fuel assembly head and mutually parallel fuel rods containing nuclear fuel and extending between the fuel assembly head and the fuel assembly base. A water tube having first and second open ends extends parallel to the fuel rods. The first end of the water tube grips and is held at the fuel assembly base. An elongated extension body has first and second ends. The second end of the extension body grips and is held at the fuel assembly head. The second end of the water tube is screwed into the first end of the elongated extension body, or the first end of the elongated extension body is screwed into the second end of the water tube. The elongated extension body has two mutually coaxially disposed partial bodies. One of the partial bodies has the second end of the extension body and the other of the partial bodies has the first end of the extension body. One of the partial bodies is screwed into the other of the partial bodies. A check nut may be seated on the one partial body which is screwed into the other partial body and the check nut is braced against the other partial body.

Nuclear reactor fuel assembly

In a circuit arrangement for line units of an ATM switching equipment unit, it is possible with the assistance of the respective line unit to separate one or more virtual connections carried in a virtual path proceeding thereover from a virtual path proceeding thereover. For this purpose, the connection to be respectively separated has route information allocated to it with the assistance of a memory arrangement that is present in the respective line unit and is formed of a content-addressable memory (CAM) and of a following random access memory (RAM), the route information deviating from the route information of the virtual connections that continue to be carried in the corresponding virtual path.

Circuit arrangement for line units of an ATM switching equipment

The message cells of a virtual connection appear with a transmission bit rate that is higher in comparison to a transmission bit rate respectively defined for inputs (E1, . . . ,EP) and outputs (A1, . . . ,AP) of an ATM network. These message cells are depacketed. The message signals contained in successive message cells are thereby subdivided into signal sections. Upon attachment of a continuously changing signal section sequence number, these are respectively inserted into the information part of a message cell. The message cells are then transmitted via different transmission routes within the ATM network and are subsequently depacketed. Based on the measure of the signal section sequence numbers contained in these message cells, message signals in the original length are in turn formed from the individual signal sections, these message signals being inserted into message signals of the appertaining virtual connection for forwarding.

An fuel or control assembly for a nuclear reactor includes an elongated case having a longitudinal axis, side walls extending parallel to the axis and defining an interior with a polygonal cross section, two ends, a rim, and at least one case opening being surrounded by the rim at one of the ends. The side walls have inner surfaces with a groove-like profile being machined therein and extending at a predetermined distance from the rim. A bundle of rods parallel to the axis or an elongated absorber body is disposed in the interior of the case. An end part has lateral surfaces extending parallel to the axis and being adapted to the polygonal cross section of the interior. The end part has corners disposed between the lateral surfaces being rounded and shaped in the axial direction to form dovetail-like protrusions. The end part is rotatable into a first position relative to the case in which the end part is insertable axially from outside into the opening in the case during installation and in which the end part is axially displaceable outwardly during disassembly. The end part is rotatable into a second position relative to the case for operation of the nuclear reactor. The lateral surfaces of the end part are opposite the side walls of the case in the first position, and the dovetail-like protrusions engage the groove-like profile and are locked to the side walls of the case as soon as the end part is rotated about the axis into the second position.

In a method and circuit arrangement for transmitting a continuous bit stream upon involvement of an ATM network, the continuous bit stream appears with a transmission bit rate that is greater than a transmission bit rate respectively defined for inputs (E1, . . . ,En) and outputs (A1, . . . ,An) of the ATM network (KE). This continuous bit stream is subdivided into signal sections that, with respect to their bit plurality plus a defined plurality of information bits, correspond to the plurality of bits transmittable in the information part of a message cell as useful signals. In successive control cycles, a plurality of signal sections corresponding in number to the bit rate ratio of the appertaining transmission bit rates are respectively inserted into the information part of a message cell with a signal section sequence number that continuously varies attached to them. The message cells are then transmitted via different transmission paths within the ATM network and are subsequently joined again to form a continuous bit stream according to the measure of the signal section sequence numbers contained in the message cells.

A fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor includes approximately mutually parallel fuel rods in a bundle having upper and lower ends. A skeleton holding the bundle has a handle, an upper tie plate retained on the handle at the upper end of the bundle, a lower tie plate at the lower end of the bundle, and at least one support element joining together the lower tie plate and the upper tie plate. The skeleton and the bundle are inserted in a fuel assembly case. A redundant support device holds the lower tie plate, the fuel assembly case and the upper tie plate together, when the handle is lifted.

The telecommunication network is composed to a greater degree of ATM exchanges (ATM) and to a lesser degree of STM exchanges (STM). Information coming from an STM exchange (for example, STM1) ad to be switched to a further STM exchange (for example, STMy) via an ATM exchange (for example, ATM1) are packeted in short cells for through-connection through the ATM exchange (ATM1) in order to reduce the packeting time. These short cells have a shorter length when compared to the standardized message cells used for information transmission between ATM exchanges.

Telecommunication network having ATM switching centers and STM switching

The telecommunication network is composed to a greater degree of ATM exchanges (ATM) and to a lesser degree of STM exchanges (STM). Information coming from an STM exchange (for example, STM1) and to be communicated to a further STM exchange (for example, STMy) via an ATM exchange (for example, ATM1) is packeted in message cells of the same length as those message cells used for the transmission between ATM exchanges in order to reduce the packeting time for the through-connection across the ATM exchange (ATM1). However, respective message parts of a plurality of STM time channels (K1 through K4) that are to be through-connected to the same ATM exchange output are multiplexed in a message cell.

Telecommunication network

The telecommunication network is composed to a greater extent of ATM exchanges and to a lesser extent of STM exchanges. For reducing the packeting time for the through-connection across the ATM exchange, information coming from an STM exchange and to be switched via an ATM exchange to a further STM exchange is packeted either into message cells that are shorter in comparison to standardized message cells used for the transmission between ATM exchanges or into message cells of the same length wherein, however, respective message parts of a plurality of STM channels that are to be through-connected to the same ATM output are multiplexed in a message cell. Given local exchanges (ATM-V) having decentralized line units (SLUR) for the connection of subscriber lines, the message cells of a plurality of STM channels are packeted multiplexed thereat without taking the exchange destination into consideration. A conversion into one of the aforementioned message cells that deviate from the standard cells then occurs in the exchange.

A hydraulic control rod drive for a nuclear reactor, with a a reactor plenum enclosing the drive, comprises first and second hollow bodies together forming a cylinder and a hollow piston. Working fluid is supplied through one of the hollow bodies. The first hollow body is stationary and the second hollow body is disposed coaxially around the first hollow body. The two hollow bodies define an annular gap therebetween so as to allow axial reciprocating movement of the second hollow body, which forms a carrier body for control elements of the control rod. The second hollow body can be lifted, lowered or suspended by feeding working fluid. A portion of the fluid is removed from the inner space via a throttle passage. A positional measurement system determines the relative displacement of the second hollow body by measuring an ultrasonic measurement path. The system includes an ultrasound reflector and an ultrasonic transducer rigidly mounted remote from the ultrasound reflector. Provisions are made for venting the inner space through venting channels which open into the reactor plenum at a security distance from the measurement path so as not to adversely affect the ultrasonic measurement.
