An oblong absorbent article that includes a liquid-impermeable bottom sheet, and upper liquid-permeable sheet and an absorbent body disposed between these sheets, and on each side of the longitudinal center line of the upper sheet at least one longitudinal elastic liquid barrier having at least the free edge treated with a non-adhesive sealing medium which partly fills out the pores formed between the free edge and the abutment surface on the wearer, and/or which, when the article is donned, increases around said abutment surface, the wetting angle of the liquid to the skin. An absorbent article that includes an essentially liquid-impermeable top sheet above an absorbent body enclosed between an upper liquid-permeable sheet and a liquid-impermeable sheet, the top sheet being provided with elastic for shaping the article to the wearer's body and incorporating apertures intended to register with the anus and the urethra orifice of the wearer in use, around which apertures elastically puckered sealing edges are disposed, at least one sealing edge being coated with the sealing medium.

A method for producing an elongate sheet of material that includes barrier flaps which extend along the side-edges of said sheet in spaced relationship with respective side-edges, and which project up from the plane of the sheet, including placing along each edge-part of a first elongate web a narrower second elongate web, so the outer side-edges of respective second webs will lie edge-to-edge with the side-edges of the first web; placing along each edge-part of the first elongate web and on top of respective second webs a third elongate sheet narrower than the first sheet, so the outer side-edges of respective third webs will lie edge-to-edge with the side-edges of the first and second webs; joining the first, second and third webs together with a join extending along the outer side-edges of the webs; and swinging the third webs laterally outwards through 180&deg; around the join lines.

Method of producing an outer sheet that includes barrier flaps, and an outer sheet produced in accordance therewith

Absorbent product such as an incontinence pad, sanitary pad, diaper, absorbent inlay or the like, having a central absorbent portion with an upper permeable surface. The absorbent product also has a fluid-impermeable backsheet. In order to provide width adaptation and to allow a basin-shape to be formed in the product, two lateral portions are provided. Each of the lateral portions extends in the longitudinal direction of the product. The inner edge of each lateral portion is attached to the central portion by means of a surplus of material and the outer edge is a free outer edge. The lateral portions can thus move in a lateral direction independently of a central portion.

An absorbent article includes a liquid-permeable upper sheet, a liquid impermeable bottom sheet, and an absorbent body between the bottom sheet and the upper sheet, and at least one longitudinally extending liquid barrier comprising an elongated elastic element and an elongated, essentially liquid-impermeable and inelastic material on each side of a longitudinal center line. A liquid impermeable top sheet with an aperture intended to lie in register with a wearer's anus and urethral orifice may also be included. A prestretched elastic band is attached to either an edge of an inelastic material of the liquid impermeable barrier or to the aperture-defining edge of the liquid permeable top sheet. When the article is donned, the elastic device will lie against a wearer, with a free part facing toward the longitudinal center line and a stretchable, puckered sealing edge facing outward from the longitudinal center line.

Longitudinal puckered-edge liquid barriers for absorbent articles

An absorbent article suitable for use as a diaper or adult incontinence garment includes an absorbent body disposed between a cover sheet, an inner sheet. Longitudinally extending folds disposed on the inner sheet inhibit the leakage of bodily exudates from the edges of the article. Elastic members extend along a portion of the length of the folds in the mid portion of the article. In the back portion of the article, elastic members connected to the inner sheet extend adjacent the edges of the absorbent body to enhance the fit of the garment. In the front portion of the article, elastic members may also be connected to the inner sheet and extend adjacent the edges of the absorbent body to enhance the fit of the garment.

Disposable liquid absorbent article with elasticizing members

A garment ( ) includes an absorbent section ( ) and a waist belt ( ) attached directly or indirectly thereto. The waist belt has two belt portions ( ) extending on either side of the absorbent section for securing to each other around a wearer of the garment. The particular handling characteristics of the belt parts of the waist belt ( ) are significantly improved by manufacturing a belt stiffness of between 25 g and 90 g as measured by the modified version of test ASTM D 4032-82 CIRCULAR BEND PROCEDURE.

Waist belt for absorbent garment

A combination of an absorbent article and a waist belt for supporting the article has coacting hook and loop fabric tape elements thereon by which the absorbent article and the waist belt are releasably secured to each other. The hook fabric tape elements are provided on one of the waist belt and the absorbent article, and the loop fabric tape elements are provided on the other of the waist belt and the absorbent article.

Device for the support of an absorbent article

An absorbent article with a liquid barrier layer which lies nearest the user's body and which includes a first and a second pair of elastic members. The surface layer is used as the article's supporting unit in which other included parts, such as reverse layer and absorption body, are suspended. The surface layer also has an elongate opening which permits liquid communication from the user's genitals to the inside of the article.

A waist belt for supporting disposable-type absorbent articles ( ), such as incontinence guards or diapers which comprise a front part, a rear part and an intermediate crotch part, wherein the belt can be fastened to the rear part of the article and when fastened to the rear part of the article comprises two front portions ( ) which project out laterally from mutually opposing side edges of the rear part of the article and which can be fastened together through the medium of mechanical fastener elements ( ) to form a waist band and which taper towards their respective ends over at least a substantial part of their lengths. Each of the front portions includes first fastener elements ( ) which are disposed on the outside of the belt, i.e. that side which faces outwardly in relation to the wearer's body in use, and which extend at least over essentially the whole of the tapering portions of the front portions ( ) along the longitudinal symmetry lines thereof. A second fastener element ( ) is provided on the inside of one of the front portions at the end part thereof and can be fastened to the first fastener element on the other front portion along a plurality of mutually spaced points along the longitudinal symmetry line of the other front portion.

Absorbent article, such as a diaper, pant diaper, incontinence guard, sanitary napkin, wound dressing and the like, comprising a layer of continuous fibres, so-called tow, which have been bonded together in points, lines or spots in a bonding pattern ( ), but otherwise are substantially unbonded to each other, wherein the bonding pattern ( ) is different in different portions of said layer ( ).
