A transport tanker and a method of reinforcing a transport tanker are generally provided. The transport tanker may include a tank body, and a coupling structure, including a web extending from the tank body, for transferring a towing load to the tank body. A load spreading structure may be affixed to the tank body and configured to spread at least a portion of a load experienced by the tank body in a region proximate a terminal end of the web. The load spreading structure may include a reinforcing member including a elongated U-shaped member including two legs joined at a first end by an arcuate section. A respective one of the two legs may be at least partially disposed on opposed sides of the web with web at least partially received within an open second end of the U-shaped member.

Transport tanker reinforcement

An elongated tubular glide housing for a telescoping, uncoupling lever for a railroad car. A tubular glide housing includes a rectangular seal enclosure having a top wall, a bottom wall, an outwardly located side wall, and an inwardly located side wall defining a passage extending through the enclosure. The top and bottom walls of the enclosure have leading and trailing edges. A circular tool opening is formed in each of the outwardly and inwardly located side walls. A pair of elongated plastic glide elements are positioned in the passage extending through the rectangular steel enclosure. Each of the elongated plastic glide elements is formed with a generally L-shaped transverse cross-section including a first leg and a second leg. The L-shaped elements are dimensioned to fit into the passage of the steel enclosure. Each of the first and second legs have a leading edge and a trailing edge. An outwardly projecting retaining tab is formed at each of the leading and trailing edges of the first leg. A cylindrical boss is formed integrally with the second leg of each glide element and extends outwardly therefrom. The glide elements are positioned in the passage with each glide element having a second leg located against one of the side walls with its boss seated in the tool passage and the first leg positioned adjacent one of either the top or bottom walls with the retaining tabs of the first leg engaging the leading and trailing edges of the top and bottom walls of the rectangular enclosure.

Glide element for a telescoping uncoupling lever

A railroad car roof panel and skylight assembly. The assembly includes a rectangular metal roof panel. A pair of corrugations are formed in the roof panel with the corrugations extending longitudinally of the roof panel and spaced apart from one another transversely across the roof panel. A pair of light holes are formed in the roof panel between the corrugations. The light holes are positioned longitudinally of each other with each of the light holes having an inner edge. A translucent plastic window is located above each light hole. Each transparent window has a shape similar to but larger than the shape of its light hole and is positioned to overlie the inner edge of its light hole. The transparent plastic window may be planar or dome shaped. A ring shaped gasket formed of an elastomer such as EPDM has an annulus of rectangular transverse cross section with a thickness greater than that of the translucent window. The gasket also has an integrally outwardly extending brim which is thinner than the annulus. An inwardly opening groove is formed in the annulus with the groove sized to receive an edge of the translucent plastic window. An annular clamp ring is positioned on the ring shaped gasket. The clamp ring has a first portion engaging the annulus and a second offset portion engaging the brim of the gasket. A series of swaged lockbolts extend through the metal roof panel and the clamp ring to clamp the gasket and translucent plastic window there between.

Railroad car roof panel and skylight assembly

A truck mounted brake system comprising a brake cylinder mounted on a truck bolster, having a cylinder rod extending through the bolster, wherein a series of elongated slots are provided in the second sidewall and the intermediate webs of the bolster to facilitate access to mounting bolts for the brake cylinder. The slots are dimensioned to avoid unnecessary weakening of the bolster. In the preferred embodiment, the brake cylinder is positioned so that the pivot point at which the cylinder rod joins the brake lever is substantially coaxial with the brake cylinder bushing when the cylinder rod is in its extended, loaded position. Interior and exterior surfaces of the bolster sidewall which the brake cylinder and its associated fasteners engage are preferably substantially planar to avoid loosening of the fasteners over time due to surface irregularities.
