A smoke alarm includes a housing having a generally hollow interior, a printed circuit board arranged within the interior of the housing, and an optical chamber assembly connected to the printed circuit board. The optical chamber assembly has an interior chamber and at least one smoke entry location. A substantial entirety of the interior chamber is external to the housing. At least one light device for evaluating particles is arranged within an interior chamber of the optical chamber assembly.

An illustrative example embodiment of a transport refrigeration system includes an evaporator air management system having an evaporator heat exchanger and an air passage downstream of the evaporator heat exchanger. A two-stage fan assembly within the air passage includes a first fan stage having a first fan rotor, a first motor associated with the first fan rotor for selectively causing the first fan rotor to rotate in a first direction about a fan axis, a second fan stage having a second fan rotor in series with the first fan rotor, and a second motor associated with the second fan rotor for selectively causing the second fan to rotate in a second, opposite direction about the fan axis. The first and second fan stages draw air across the evaporator heat exchanger and through the air passage.

A detection chamber assembly of a smoke detector is provided. The detection chamber assembly includes upper and lower covers, louvers and a corrugated bug screen. The louvers are arranged with the upper and lower covers to define a chamber bound between the upper and lower covers and the louvers. The louvers include a first pair of louvers defining a first space therebetween to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber and a second pair of louvers defining a second space therebetween to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber. The second space is wider than the first space. The corrugated bug screen includes a body disposed about the louvers and a mesh corrugation feature coupled to the body at the second space to permit fluidic ingress to the chamber at the second space and to inhibit bug ingress to the chamber at the second space.

A blower assembly includes a blower housing and a fan wheel mounted within the blower housing and being rotatable about an axis of rotation. The fan wheel includes a support disk positioned near a center of the fan wheel. A first wheel portion having a first plurality of impeller blades is positioned adjacent a first side of the support disk. A second wheel portion having a second plurality of impeller blades is positioned adjacent a second side of the support disk. The first wheel portion and the second wheel portion are asymmetrical about a plane oriented perpendicular to the axis of rotation and intersecting the support disk.

An integrated fan heat exchanger stator assembly is provided including a hub and a casing. A plurality of elements is arranged between the hub and the casing. The plurality of elements is separated from one another by a plurality of external flow passages. At least one internal flow passage is configured to convey a first heat transfer fluid through one or more of the plurality of elements. The first heat transfer fluid is arranged in thermal communication with a second heat transfer fluid configured to flow through at least one of the external flow passages.

An air handling unit for use with an air conditioning system is provided including a housing duct through which air is circulated. A vane-axial flow fan circulates air through the housing duct. The fan includes an impeller having a plurality of fan blades extending therefrom and an axis of rotation arranged substantially in-line with a flow path of the air. A heat exchanger assembly is arranged within the housing duct in a heat transfer relationship with the air circulating through the housing duct.

The distribution of condition air into the cargo space of a temperature controlled container is improved. Conditioned air may be selectively distributed into the cargo space from a plenum beneath the cargo support floor through a plurality of longitudinally and laterally spaced apart openings through the cargo support floor. Side air ducts may be provided extending rearwardly along the side walls of the container for distributing conditioned air received from a pair of side air outlets in a refrigerant unit associated with the container. The side air ducts may have a plurality of air discharge openings and may discharge conditioned air into vertically extending recesses in the side walls. The side air outlets have a selectively variable flow area. The number, location and size of the openings through the cargo support floor, as well as the air discharge openings in the side air ducts, may be selectively varied so as to selectively distribute the conditioned air flow throughout the cargo space.

An inducer fan assembly includes a flow collector piece having a motor support surface, a toroidal collector, and a discharge region extending tangentially from the collector. A fan rotor is rotatably mounted relative to the motor support surface. The fan rotor includes a hub surface, and an outer circumferential edge. The fan rotor further includes a plurality of blades that extend from the hub surface. The plurality of blades extend from a leading edge to a trailing edge that extends beyond the outer circumferential edge. The plurality of blades include a first height and a second height that define a blade tip revolved contour. The collector is arranged radially outward from and axially off-set from the hub surface. An inlet casing piece is mounted to the flow collector piece. The inlet casing piece includes a contour that is substantially similar to the blade tip revolved contour of the fan rotor.
