At least two input signals, each characterizing a radio signal having a radio frequency (RF), are received. The input signals are converted into at least three output signals. The output signals have a unique combination of corresponding magnitudes for each RF phase difference between the input signals. A set of magnitudes corresponding to the output signals is measured using a mobile measuring device. An RF phase angle value is determined based the measured set of magnitudes. The RF phase angle value is converted into an angle value indicative of the direction of arrival of the radio signal.

Direction of arrival determination for a radio signal

There is provided techniques for improved visualization of wireless devices in a communication network. The techniques include receiving, via an identification device, real-time display data, determining, via the identification device, a location of a network device and displaying, via a display of the identification device, the real-time display data and an indication of the location of the network device relative to the real-time display data.

Detecting and visualizing wireless network devices in communication networks

A device provides location information to assist in identifying the location of RF sources. Antenna arrays coupled to corresponding receivers supply signals to a direction of arrival computation block, and the direction information is used to provide a display showing the location of the RF source.

Real-time RF signal visualization device

A method, apparatus and software related product are presented for adaptive frequency-domain windowing to determine a time-domain crosstalk in a cable and produce effective TDX plots regardless of the frequency of a worst NEXT (near-end crosstalk). An adaptive window such as a low pass or pass band window may be selected based on the frequency of a measured worst NEXT margin for each pair combination.

An instrument is disclosed that is capable of detecting and graphically displaying channel usage and the number of access points operating on each channel of interest. By using a module that counts the number of elapsed clock cycles, the total cumulative duration of detected frames, and the number of channel in-use cycles, the instrument can determine the percentage of time a channel is in use, the percentage of time of IEEE 802.11 usage on a channel, and the percentage of time of non-IEEE 802.11 usage on a channel. Further, channels are scanned for access point activity using a scanning algorithm that interleaves scanning channels at a first duration longer than the beacon interval and scanning channels at a second shorter duration.

System and method for measuring and displaying presence of wireless local area network devices

A method of correcting distortions resulting from loss and dispersion in cable fault measurements. A cable is measured in the frequency domain to obtain a reflected response. Fractional sinusoidal components of the reflected response having attenuated amplitude and delayed phase values at points defining the junctures of adjacent equal predetermined lengths are collected and normalized. Then the fractional sinusoidal components of the reflected response are extracted from normalized sum by mathematically calculating the real value at each point, thereby removing all loss and dispersion distortion components.

Correction of loss and dispersion in cable fault measurements

A balance network directional coupler (BNDC) allows for effective coupling to sources of transmitted signals, communication lines, and devices that process received signals. The BNDC includes a transmission port, first and second amplifiers, a reception port, a communication line port, a transformer system, and a balance network. The second amplifier has a second gain of a polarity opposite the polarity of the polarity of the first gain. The transformer system has first and second windings each having first and second terminals, the first and second terminals of the first winding being electrically coupled to the communication line port, the first terminal of the second winding being electrically coupled to the reception port, and the second terminal of the second winding being electrically coupled to an output terminal of the second amplifier. The second winding of the transformer system has an equivalent impedance at the first and second terminals based on an impedance of the transformer system and an impedance of a communication line. The balance network is electrically coupled to an output terminal of the first amplifier and to the reception port. The balance network is configured to have an impedance relative to the equivalent impedance at the second winding of the transformer system selected so that the reception port is substantially decoupled from the transmission port.
