Described is a process for producing adhesive-coated articles, wherein an aqueous dispersion adhesive composition comprising a dispersed adhesive polymer and a dissolved polyvinylpyrrolidone is applied at high web speed to a film substrate using a coating machine having at least one rotating roller and wherein the coated film substrate may optionally be bonded to a further substrate. Also described is the use of polyvinylpyrrolidone as a defoamer for aqueous dispersion adhesive compositions applied to a film substrate using a coating machine having a rapidly rotating roller.

Method for producing articles coated with adhesive

A description is given of a method of making film laminates using a lamination adhesive comprising (a) at least one acrylic polymer A with anhydride groups which are reactive with primary or secondary amine groups; and (b) at least one compound B with at least two amine groups selected from primary and secondary amine groups. The acrylic polymer A has a molecular weight of from 3000 to 50000 and the lamination adhesive is free of organic solvents, free of water and free of compounds with isocyanate groups.

Method of making film laminates using amine-reactive acrylic lamination adhesives

A description is given of the use of a one-component laminating adhesive for composite film lamination, and also of a method for composite film lamination. The laminating adhesive comprises an aqueous polymer dispersion preparable by radical emulsion polymerization of monomers comprising (a) at least 60 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of C1 to C20 alkyl acrylates, C1 to C20 alkyl methacrylates, vinyl esters of carboxylic acids comprising up to 20 carbon atoms, vinylaromatics having up to 20 carbon atoms, vinyl halides, vinyl ethers of alcohols comprising 1 to 10 carbon atoms, aliphatic hydrocarbons having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and one or two double bonds, and mixtures of these monomers, and (b) at least 0.1 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one monomer having at least one acid group, and (c) 0.1 to 5 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound having at least one functional group selected from keto groups and aldehyde groups; where the aqueous polymer dispersion comprises at least one compound A which has at least two functional groups that are able to enter into a crosslinking reaction with keto groups or with aldehyde groups; where the molar ratio of the groups of the compound A that are reactive with keto groups or with aldehyde groups to the keto and aldehyde groups of the monomer (b) is from 1:10 to 2:1; and where, in the composite film lamination, at least two films are bonded to one another with the laminating adhesive so firmly that the peel strength is 2.5 N/15 mm or more or that the films bonded to one another are partable only with destruction of at least one of the films. The composite films can be used for the packing of foods.

Use of a single-component laminating adhesive for composite film lamination

A description is given of the use of a polymer dispersion for producing sound deadener compositions, the polymer dispersion comprising at least one polymer obtainable by emulsion polymerization of radically polymerizable monomers, and the polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of more than 100 000, preferably of more than 100 000 to 350 000. A description is also given of corresponding sound deadener compositions which comprise the polymer dispersion, and of a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of vehicle components.

Anti-drumming compounds with high molecular weight emulsion polymers

A description is given of a nonaqueous sound deadener composition comprising (a) a nonpulverulent, solvent-free polyacrylate binder having a K value in the range from 10 to 35, measured as a 1% strength solution in tetrahydrofuran; and (b) inorganic fillers. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

Non-aqueous sound-absorbing compound with a solvent-free polyacrylate binder

The use of an aqueous Solution comprising at least one polyanion and at least one high molecular weight polyethyleneimine is described, for providing oxygen barrier properties to a polymer film. The polyanion is a polymer comprising acid groups neutralized with a base selected from the group consisting of inorganic bases and monovalent organic bases and having a weight average molecular weight of at least 10000 g/mol.

Use of aqueous polyanion-polyethyleneimine solutions for producing polymer films with oxygen-barrier properties

A description is given of a nonaqueous sound deadener composition comprising (a) a nonpulverulent polyacrylate binder having a K value in the range from 10 to 35, measured as a 1% strength solution in tetrahydrofuran; (b) inorganic fillers; and a radically polymerizable compound which has at least one radically polymerizable C&#x2014;C double bond and possesses a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of greater than 160&#xb0; C. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

Non-aqueous sound-deadening composition containing a non-pulverulent polyacrylate binder and a radically polymerizable compound

A description is given of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising a polymer which is obtainable by emulsion polymerization from a monomer mixture comprising as hydrophilic monomers ethoxylated (meth)acrylate monomer, acid monomer, and C1 to C20 hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate; and also at least one hydrophobic principal monomer, selected from C1 to C20 alkyl(meth)acrylates and vinylaromatics; and also, optionally, further monomers. This polymer is preparable by at least two-stage emulsion polymerization, where in a first polymerization stage the predominant fraction or the entire amount of the hydrophilic monomers is used, and in a later polymerization stage the predominant fraction or the entire amount of the hydrophobic monomers is used. The polymer dispersion is a suitable binder for aqueous particle dispersions, more particularly of sound deadener compositions, which comprise inorganic and optionally also organic particulate solids. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of vehicle components.

Polymer dispersions and sound deadener compositions with emulsion polymer from two-stage preparation

Described is paper or cardboard packaging produced from mineral oil contaminated, recycled paper, wherein the packaging includes a barrier layer obtainable by applying an aqueous polymeric dispersion comprising a copolymer obtainable by emulsion polymerization of C1-C4 alkyl(meth)acrylates, acid monomers, e.g., acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, 0-20 wt % of acrylonitrile and 0 to 10 wt % of further monomers, wherein the glass transition temperature of the copolymer is in the range from +10 to +45&#xb0; C. The barrier layer may be situated on one of the surfaces of the packaging or form one of multiple layers of a multilayered packaging coating or be situated as a coating on one side of an inner bag situated within the packaging.
