Propene is continuously reacted with hydrogen peroxide in a tube bundle reactor comprising a multitude of parallel reaction tubes in the presence of a titanium silicalite catalyst arranged as a fixed bed in the reaction tubes. A cooling jacket encloses the reaction tubes, which has a feed point for cooling medium near the entry of the reaction tubes, a withdrawal point for cooling medium near the end of the reaction tubes and at least one additional withdrawal point upstream of the withdrawal point near the end of the reaction tubes. Cooling medium is fed to the feed point for cooling medium, a part of the cooling medium is withdrawn at the at least one additional withdrawal point and the remainder exits at the withdrawal point near the end of the reaction tubes.

The invention relates to a falling film evaporator, which is fitted with a liquid distributor which is divided into segments, such that it is possible to charge only a limited number of evaporator tubes with liquid and the evaporator can be operated in an optimum manner even with a partial load. The invention also relates to a method for operating said falling film evaporator, the aim of which is to transfer heat, which is released when a gas-vapor mixture is condensed, to a liquid which is to be evaporated at least partially. It would be useful to use said falling film evaporator thus fitted in heat recuperation systems such as those used in the production of 1,2 dichloroethane.

A distributor includes first and second liquid distribution systems for two liquid phases for an upright tube-bundle reactor. The first system is arranged directly above or on a tubesheet and is connected to at least one outer feed device and contains an annular weir. The second system is connected to at least one other outer feed device and contains one upper and one lower distribution tray which contains a plurality of openings which are arranged flush above the inlet sleeves of the first system, and has at least one device for setting a uniform liquid level above the openings. The upper distribution tray is connected to the feed device for liquid, and contains a plurality of overflow weirs from which the liquid is able to discharge into the lower distribution tray. Each of the overflow weirs is assigned to a plurality of openings of the lower distribution tray.

The invention relates to a method and a device for the optimal use of reaction heat resulting from the production of 1,2-dichloroethane from ethene and chlorine. The aim of the invention is achieved by extracting reaction heat liberated during the reaction of chlorine with ethene and the reaction heat contained in 1,2-dichloroethane. Extraction of said reaction heat from the reaction chamber occurs using at least one part of gaseous 1,2-dichloroethane (latent heat) and at least one part of liquid 1,2-dichloroethane (feelable heat) removed from the reaction chamber. Said reaction heat is used to heat two fractioning columns in order to purify 1,2-dichloroethane of impurities having a boiling point higher than 1,2-dichloroethane.
