A method for ascertaining at least one pipe wall resonance frequency of a pipeline in the region of a measuring point by means of a field device of process measurements technology having at least a first ultrasonic transducer, which is placed on the pipeline at the measuring point, comprising steps as follows: providing a first transfer function U(f) at least of the first or a plurality of ultrasonic transducers located in the region of the measuring point; ascertaining a received spectrum U(f) from a received signal U(t) after transmission of an ultrasonic signal; ascertaining a second transfer function U(f) from the first transfer function U(f) of the first or the plurality of ultrasonic transducers and from the received spectrum u(f), wherein the second transfer function U(f) is characteristic for the measuring point; and ascertaining the at least one pipe wall resonance frequency f, especially a plurality of resonance frequencies, in the region of the measuring point by evaluating the second transfer function U(f) from step III, as well as a clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device, a method for ascertaining flow, a method for ascertaining a change of the measuring point and an identification device.

Method for ascertaining at least one pipe wall resonance frequency, as well as clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device

A measuring device, in particular a flow meter, has a measurement tube for receiving or conveying a fluid, first and second oscillation transducers on a side wall of the measurement tube, and a control device. An operating method has the control device drive the first oscillation transducer chronologically in succession for respective mode-selective excitation of a first and a second oscillation mode of a wave conducted in the side wall of the measurement tube. The second oscillation transducer is driven similarly for a second measurement direction. The excited waves are conducted directly in the side wall or indirectly through the fluid and recorded in the other oscillation transducer, resulting in measurement data for each measurement direction and oscillation mode. Result information relates to a property of the fluid or a state of the measuring device determined from the measurement data for both measurement directions and both respective oscillation modes.

Method for operating a measuring device and measuring device

An ultrasonic meter for recording a flow quantity dependent on a flow of a fluid, has a control device, a measuring tube having a plurality of side walls, mutually adjacent side walls being at an angle to one another, and through which the fluid can flow in a longitudinal direction of the measuring tube, and first and second ultrasound transducers which are arranged at a distance from one another in the longitudinal direction on the measuring tube. The first and second ultrasound transducers respectively contain one transducer element or a predetermined arrangement of a plurality of transducer elements. The ultrasound transducer can be driven by the control device in order to excite an acoustic wave conducted in a side wall of the measuring tube, and conducted through the fluid to the other ultrasound transducer and recorded there by the control device to determine a signal time of flight.

Ultrasonic meter and method for sensing a flow variable

A method determines a fluid quantity relating to a fluid flowing in a measuring device. The measuring device has a measuring tube which receives the fluid, and first and second oscillation transducers. An excitation of a total wave, which is conducted through a wall of the measuring tube, by the first and/or second oscillation transducer, by wave components which are conducted in the wall being excited by the oscillation transducers in a plurality of excitation regions. These wave components are superposed to form the total wave. A distance between the centers of the excitation regions and the excitation frequency are selected such that an oscillation mode to be attenuated is quenched by destructive interference of the wave components in a propagation direction. Excitation of a compression oscillation of the fluid by the total wave occurs. Measurement data relating to the compression oscillation is used to determine the fluid quantity.

Method and measuring device for determining a fluid quantity

A method for determining measurement information includes conducting waves excited by first oscillation transducers to second oscillation transducers or back to the first transducers and recording to determine measurement data. The measurement information is determined using first and second data or first data determine an excitation parameter of a second wave. The first transducers excite the second wave with polarities reversed relative to a polarity for excitation of a first wave, or subgroups of the first transducers operate differently to excite the first and second waves, and/or first and second subgroups of the first or second transducers are used for recording. Only measurement signals of the first subgroup are used, or measurement signals of first and second subgroups are added to record the first data. Only measurement signals of the second subgroup are used, or measurement signals of subgroups are subtracted, or vice versa, to record second data.

Method and measuring device for determining measurement information

A measurement device for ascertaining a pressure in a measurement volume which receives a fluid or through which fluid flows. The measurement volume is bounded at least sectionally by a side wall and a vibration transducer is arranged on the side wall. The vibration transducer is actuable by a control device of the measurement device to excite a wave that is guided through the side wall. The guided wave is able to be guided through the side wall along a propagation path back to the vibration transducer or to at least one further vibration transducer and it is captured there by the control device in order to ascertain measurement data. The pressure in the measurement volume is then ascertained by the control device in dependence on the measurement data.

Measurement device and method for ascertaining a pressure in a measurement volume

A method for operating a measuring device determining a fluid quantity relating to fluid or fluid flow uses a measuring tube receiving the fluid or conducting the flow and oscillation transducers spaced along the tube. A first flight time is recorded, then an ultrasound signal excited by a first transducer, after travel on a propagation path including only components of the measuring device to a second transducer, is recorded at a second transducer. A second flight time is recorded, then an ultrasound signal excited by the second transducer, after travel on the propagation path to the first transducer, is recorded at the first transducer. Then fulfillment of a report condition depending on a difference between flight times is checked. Upon fulfillment, a report is output to a user or a report message is sent to an external device or a correction parameter for determining the fluid quantity is adapted.

Ultrasonic time of flight flow measuring device and method

A measurement module determines a fluid quantity which relates to a property of a fluid located in or flowing through a measurement tube. The measurement module contains a base body, a control device and first and second oscillation transducers fastened at a distance from one another on the base body. The first and/or the second oscillation transducer is controlled by the control device to excite an oscillation of a side wall of the measurement tube when a contact face of the measurement module is coupled to the side wall of the measurement tube directly or via a coupling layer. The oscillation of the side wall excites compression oscillations of the fluid, which are conducted through the fluid to the respective other oscillation transducer and recorded the control device to determine a measurement quantity. The fluid quantity can be determined by the control device in dependence on the measurement quantity.

Measurement device and method for determining a fluid flow in a measurement tube

A measuring device for determining a fluid variable relating to a fluid or fluid flow includes a control device, a measuring tube receiving the fluid or fluid flow, and oscillation transducers spaced apart on the measuring tube. At least one oscillation transducer is drivable by the control device to excite a wave conducted through at least one side wall of the measuring tube, the conducted wave exciting compression oscillations of the fluid conducted through the fluid to the other oscillation transducer and recorded there by the control device to determine measurement data. The fluid variable can be determined by the control device as a function of the measurement data. At least one further side wall of the measuring tube has at least one recess extending in a flow direction and increasing a flow cross section of the measuring tube. A method for determining a fluid variable is also provided.

A method for ascertaining a characteristic variable for evaluating a measuring arrangement comprising a clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device and a pipe, on which the clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device is secured, and/or for evaluating measurement operation of such a measuring arrangement, characterized by the method steps as follows: A) providing characteristic values relative to an exciter signal produced by the clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device; B) providing sensor-specific data as regards acoustic properties of one or more ultrasonic transducers of the clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device C) inputting data relative to the pipe material and the pipe wall thickness, especially inputting such data by a user, and D) ascertaining the characteristic variable from the parameters and data of steps A-C based on a mathematical model, as well as a computer program product and a clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device.

A measuring system, embodied as a clamp-on, ultrasonic, flow measuring device, comprises a tube, or a pipe, having a lumen surrounded by a tube, or pipe, wall, which tube or pipe is adapted to guide a volume portion of the fluid in its lumen; an ultrasonic transducer mounted on the tube, or pipe, on an outside of the tube, or pipe, wall facing away from the lumen, and acoustically coupled via the tube, or pipe, wall to fluid guided in the lumen, and adapted to convert a time varying electrical voltage into ultrasonic waves propagating through the tube, or pipe, wall and further through fluid guided in the lumen; an ultrasonic transducer mounted on the tube, or pipe, separated from the ultrasonic transducer on the outside of the tube, or pipe, wall, and acoustically coupled via the tube, or pipe, wall to fluid guided in the lumen, and adapted to receive ultrasonic waves propagating through fluid guided in the lumen, and further through the tube, or pipe, wall and to transduce such into an electrical voltage varying as a function of time; as well as an operating- and measuring electronics adapted to generate, a driver signal for the ultrasonic transducer. The driver signal has a time variable, electrical voltage, for effecting a received signal, of the ultrasonic transducer likewise having an electrical voltage, u, varying as a function of time, in such a manner that both the driver signal, as well as also the received signal, each contain a plurality of spectral signal components, equally as well, in each case, a dominating spectral signal component having a maximum power spectral density, and that a frequency, of the dominating signal component of the driver signal, deviates by a magnitude of no more than |&#xb1;100 kHz| from a frequency of the dominating signal component of the received signal, and/or by no more than 10% of the frequency of the dominating signal component of the received signal, from such frequency. Furthermore, the operating- and measuring electronics is adapted to produce by means of the received signal, at least one measured value for the at least one parameter.
