A blood testing device for detecting hemolysis in a blood sample is described. The blood testing device comprises an housing for containing the blood sample. The housing has a treatment window and an optical zone formed therein. The blood testing device further includes an acoustic transducer positioned to selectively generate acoustic forces directed into the treatment window of the housing and a control unit for selectively actuating and deactuating the acoustic transducer to permit colorimetric analysis of plasma within the blood sample.

Solution collection device with evaluation element

A device including a housing, a zone and a means for testing a fluid sample within the housing is disclosed. The housing is constructed of a fluid impermeable material, and defines a first fluid port, and a second fluid port. The first fluid port is configured to connect to a fluid collection device to receive a fluid sample from the fluid collection device into the housing. The second port is configured to pass the fluid sample from the housing into a testing instrument. The zone is formed in the housing. The zone is constructed of a material that allows an analysis of the fluid sample positioned within the housing, and located adjacent to the zone.

Device with a fluid component assessment feature

An acoustophoresis device having a sample vessel and a piezo transducer is described. The sample vessel has an outer surface, a microchannel within confines of the outer surface, a first port extending through the outer surface to the microchannel, and a second port extending through the outer surface to the microchannel, such that a blood sample is insertable through the first port into the microchannel. The sample vessel has conductive traces on the outer surface. The piezo transducer is bonded to the outer surface of the sample vessel to form a monolithic structure. The piezo transducer contacts at least one of the conductive traces, the piezo transducer is configured to generate ultrasonic waves inside a sample in the microchannel. The piezo transducer has an excitation signal input and response signal output electrically connected to the at least one of the conductive traces.

Acoustophoresis devices having conductive electrodes and methods

A lysis device including a sample vessel, at least one piezo element, and a controller is disclosed. The sample vessel has a microchannel formed therein. The sample vessel has at least one port extending through a surface to the microchannel. The piezo element is attached to the surface of the sample vessel. The controller has logic to cause the controller to emit a first signal including a series of frequencies to the at least one piezo element to cause the at least one piezo element to generate ultrasonic acoustic standing waves in the sample vessel, to receive a second signal indicative of measured vibration signals from the sample vessel detected by the at least one piezo element, and to determine a resonant frequency of the sample vessel using the measured vibration signals.

Lysis devices having a piezo element and methods

Lysis devices, methods, and systems are disclosed including a lysis device comprising a sample vessel having an outer surface, a microchannel within the confines of the outer surface, a first port extending through the outer surface to the microchannel, and a second port extending through the outer surface to the microchannel; and an acoustic transducer bonded to the outer surface of the sample vessel to form a monolithic structure, the acoustic transducer configured to emit ultrasonic acoustic waves into and/or to induce shear forces into a blood sample within the microchannel, thereby rupturing the blood cells.

Acoustophoretic lysis devices and methods

An acoustic analyzer system is provided that includes an acoustic analyzer having a reusable glass flow cell positioned within the acoustic analyzer. A disposable card body may be inserted into the acoustic analyzer and deliver sample fluid to the glass flow cell so that acoustic-wave assisted measurements may be performed on the sample fluid. An arrangement and to a method are provided for the electrical detection of liquid samples by lateral flow assays. The lateral flow assay includes a membrane arranged on a front side of a first carrier. The first carrier is electrically insulating. On the front side of the first carrier between the carrier and the membrane, electrically conductive electrodes are arranged in direct contact with the membrane.

A method is disclosed for calibrating a sensor element, which has an immobilized probe oligonucleotide, via which the bonding of a target nucleic acid (Z) can be detected by the sensor. In at least one embodiment, the method includes: a) bringing the sensor element into contact with a control nucleic acid (K), the melting temperature Tm(K) of which is less than the melting temperature Tm(Z) of the target nucleic acid (Z); b) hybridizing the control nucleic acid (K) to the probe oligonucleotide at a temperature T[p]&#x3c;Tm(K), and detecting a positive control signal; and optionally c) modifying the stringent conditions such that T[n]&#x3e;Tm(K) and detecting a negative control signal at a temperature T[n]. According to a refinement of at least one embodiment of the invention, a measuring signal of the target nucleic acid (Z) is measured at a measuring temperature T [mess], where Tm(K)&#x3c;T[mess]&#x3c;Tm(Z). The method is suited in particular for the calibration and quality control of microarrays.

A second carrier includes a porous layer having at least one functional region, in which specifically binding capturing molecules are immobilized. The at least one functional region is arranged directly adjacent to at least one non-functionalized region. Assigned to the at least one functional region and the at least one non-functionalized region are several sensors of the sensor array, for use as the electrochemical camera.
