A system includes a content management database configured to access a plurality of media signatures corresponding to a respective plurality of media assets and a signature component configured to process a media request from a requestor to access a given media asset from a content provider via a network and to generate a signature to substantially uniquely identify the given media asset, the signature being derived from media content data corresponding to the given media asset in response to accessing the media content data via the network. The signature component can also be configured to provide to the requestor the given media asset retrieved via the network if the generated media signature does not match any of a plurality of media signatures and provide the given media asset from a content storage system if the generated media signature matches a respective one of the plurality of media signatures.

Generating media signature for content delivery

A system includes a media optimizer that adaptively generates and transmits a modified manifest file based on an original manifest file corresponding to an associated media asset from a content provider in response to a media content request from a client for the associated media asset. The original manifest file specifies bitrates. The media optimizer extracts parameters associated with the media content request and applies bitrate policies based on the extracted parameters to adaptively modify the original manifest file to generate the modified manifest file. The media optimizer is further configured to transmit the modified manifest file to the client for selection by the client of a bitrate associated with delivery of the associated media asset.

Hydrogel contact lenses that are derived from a polymerizable composition including at least one hydrophilic monomer and at least one phosphine-containing component are described. The hydrogel of the contact lenses can be a silicone hydrogel or a non-silicone hydrogel. Use of polymerizable compositions comprising a phosphine-containing component can be cured under both inert and air atmospheres, and can be used to form hydrogel contact lenses having improved shape retention properties, having improved resistance to discoloration. Batches of hydrogel contact lenses and methods of making hydrogel contact lenses are also described.

At a network device through which client devices communicate with a network, a database is created that maps Internet Protocol (IP) addresses each to a respective trust metric for a domain name associated with the IP address. An IP packet sent from a client device to the network and that indicates a destination IP address for a network-accessible resource associated with a domain name is intercepted. Using the destination IP address in the intercepted IP packet, the domain name trust metric mapped to the destination IP address is retrieved from the database. IP packets received from the destination IP address are processed based on the retrieved domain name trust metric and a predetermined trust metric criterion.

An apparatus is provided in one example embodiment and includes a network element coupled to a base station and a network and operating in a WiMAX communications environment. The base station is coupled to an endpoint, the network element defining authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) attributes for the endpoint at an interface between the network element and the base station. In more specific embodiments, the network element defines one or more quality of service attributes for the endpoint and the network element defines a layer two virtual local area network (VLAN) priority/class of service (Cos). In still other embodiments, the network element defines a layer three Internet Protocol differentiated service code point (IP-DSCP). Traffic separation can be specified on a per-subscriber basis or a per service-flow basis and, further, the traffic separation can be executed through a virtual router element.

System and method for provisioning flows in a WiMAX network environment

Wettable hydrogel materials for use in ophthalmic applications and methods

The effectiveness of an oxidative sterilization process is determined by exposing a known amount of a primary amine or aldehyde indicator chemical to an oxidative germicide. The oxidative germicide reacts with the indicator chemical. The amount of indicator chemical remaining after exposure to the germicide is determined by reacting the indicator chemical with a dye precursor chemical to form a colored product. The amount of indicator chemical remaining is determined from the intensity of the color of the colored product. The amount of indicator chemical remaining on the substrate is a measure of the effectiveness of the germicidal treatment. The dye precursor is an aldehyde when the indicator chemical is a primary amine and a primary amine when the indicator chemical is an aldehyde. An integrator for determining the effectiveness of the germicidal process includes an indicator chemical, where the indicator chemical is a primary amine or an aldehyde.

A method and system for inter-working between UMA and SIP signaling are described.
