The subject invention relates to a power sprayer that offers flexibility of movement because it can be battery operated and is designed to eliminate the need for cleaning its spray nozzle after being used. Paint colors can be changed quickly by simply changing the media cartridges that are adapted for simple attachment to the sprayer. The media cartridges used in conjunction with the sprayers of this invention can also eliminate the inconvenience associated with refilling conventional power sprayers with a desired media. The present invention more specifically discloses a sprayer media cartridge system comprising: (a) a media container, (b) a self-cleaning nozzle, (c) a media shut-off means, (d) a primary media atomizing aperture in a configuration relative to the self-cleaning nozzle, (e) a movable media containment member within the media container, (f) a gas transfer interface, and (g) a power unit engagement means.

Sprayer and media cartridge therefor

The subject invention relates to a power sprayer that offers flexibility of movement because it can be battery operated and is designed to eliminate the need for cleaning its spray nozzle after being used. Paint colors can be changed quickly by simply changing the media cartridges that are adapted for simple attachment to the sprayer. These media cartridges also eliminate the inconvenience associated with refilling conventional power sprayers with a desired media. The present invention more specifically discloses a sprayer media cartridge system comprising: (a) a media container, (b) a self-cleaning nozzle, (c) a media shut-off means, (d) a primary media atomizing aperture in a configuration relative to the self-cleaning nozzle, (e) a movable media containment member within the media container, (f) a gas transfer interface, and (g) a power unit engagement means.

An emergency evacuation slide system includes a control valve having a normally-open vent that closes after a predetermined period of time calculated to vent excess inflation gas produced by the gas generator. In operation, in the event of an aircraft emergency exit door being opened in the 'armed' condition, the primary valve member of the control valve is opened allowing inflation gas to flow into the valve chamber. A portion of the gas entering the chamber is vented through the normally-open vent. After a predetermined period of time calculated to be sufficient to vent the excess inflation gas, the normally-open valve is closed to divert 100% of the remaining inflation gas into the evacuation slide.

An inflation valve for use with an inflatable emergency evacuation slide includes a thermally actuated gas relief valve having an exhaust port the effective size of which increases with increasing temperature. The exhaust port is metered by a valve member. The valve member position is controlled by a thermal actuator that lengthens with increasing temperature. At high ambient temperatures, the valve member moves to uncover the exhaust port thereby increasing the effective size of the port so that a large percentage of the inflation gas is vented. At low ambient temperatures the valve member moves to cover the exhaust port, thereby decreasing effective size of the exhaust port so that little or no inflation gas is vented.

An inflatable aircraft evacuation slide system includes a primary valve, a bust disk and a valve leakage trap operatively disposed between the primary valve and the burst disk. The valve leakage trap comprises a small exhaust vent opening into a flow restriction orifice in the gas path between the primary valve and the burst disk. In operation, when the aircraft emergency exit is opened in the armed condition, the primary valve opens and pressurizes the chamber until the burst disk ruptures allowing inflation gases to pass through the flow restriction orifice to inflate the inflatable evacuation slide. Because there is a substantial pressure drop across the flow restriction orifice, the presence of the valve leakage safety vent in the orifice does not result in significant loss of inflation gas needed for inflating the inflatable evacuation slide. In the event of leakage past the primary valve, however, the valve leakage trap safely vents the leakage pressure to the atmosphere.

A pressure relief cartridge (10) for venting fluid to the atmosphere from a low pressure inflatable member including a housing (20) mounted in fluid-tight relation to the inflatable member, and having a base (21) and a projecting annular sidewall (22), an aperture (21') in the base of the housing communicates with the interior of the inflatable member, a poppet element (40) positioned within said annular sidewall of the housing has a plate (41) at an axial extremity thereof, a sealing element (43) on the plate is adapted to engage the base peripherally surrounding the aperture, an orifice (48) formed between the plate and the annular sidewall, a skirt (42) on the poppet projecting from the plate and interiorly communicating with the atmosphere, a slot (54) in the skirt, a retainer (60) positioned in the annular sidewall of the housing, and a biasing member (70) interposed between the retainer and the poppet element normally urging the sealing element to seat on the base and permitting the sealing element to unseat and vent fluid from the inflatable member through the orifice and the slot to the atmosphere when the fluid in the inflatable member exceeds a predetermined pressure.

Pressure relief cartridge

A swivel valve assembly (10) for an inflatable member (M) permitting passage of a high velocity input of fluid from a pressurized source and providing sealing closure upon pressure equalization including a body (11,12) having a connector (13) for sealing engagement with the inflatable member, a bore (27) in the body communicating with the pressurized source of fluid, a passage (51) in said body communicating with the inflatable member and connecting with the bore, and a movable poppet (55) operative with a sealing member (60) for precluding fluid flow upon pressure equalization and having a disk (66) positioned in the bore for throttling the high velocity input of fluid before passing the sealing member.

Fluid swivel valve device

An aspirator used to inflate flexible structures such as aircraft evacuation slides, rafts, or the like comprises a tubular housing an atmospheric air inlet at one end of the housing, a nozzle within the housing for introduction of high pressure gas downstream of said air inlet, flapper valve means closing the air inlet and operable to open when atmospheric air is induced through the inlet by operation of said nozzle, and means within the housing to operate a device to positively lock or unlock the flapper valve means when said nozzle is not operating or operating, respectively.

Aspirator

A hydraulic controller for providing regulated transfer of pressurized fluid between a tank (T), an accumulator (A) serviced by a source of pressurized fluid (PS), and the brakes (B) of a vehicle including a housing (36,37; 236,237), an actuator plunger (45; 245) extending into the housing, a regulator spring (57; 257) operatively connected to the actuator plunger, and actuator (11; 247) for selectively moving the actuator plunger to controllably compress the regulator spring, and a regulating spool (65; 265) variably positioned by the regulator spring and the pressurized fluid to relieve pressurized fluid in the brakes to the tank and to provide pressurized fluid from the accumulator to the brakes at a pressure proportional to the compression of the regulator spring. The regulator spring may be a plurality of staged springs (161,165) to provide different spring rates and an override (330) may be provided on the actuator plunger for selectively compressing the regulator spring in response to a pressurized fluid input.
