An apparatus and method in a telecommunication system for controlling communication services between client terminals in a network. An application server hosting a core communication service communicates with the client terminals through an intermediate communication node in the network. The client terminals may be mobile terminals and the intermediate node may be a proxy call/session control function (P-CSCF) or a SIP application server (SIP-AS). A controller such as an IMS client controls transfer of communication sessions between the mobile terminals. The IMS client is divided into at least two parts, with one of the parts residing in the mobile terminal and the other part residing in the network.

Apparatus, method and computer program for seamless session transfer

The present invention provides a method and architecture on how mobile stations (MS) are provisioned about information of an unlicensed mobile access (UMA) network controller (UNC). The UNC in accordance with the present invention provides three different logical roles (i.e., provisioning, default and serving). More specifically, the present invention provides a method for assigning a mobile station (MS) to an unlicensed mobile access (UMA) network controller (UNC) in an unlicensed mobile access network (UMAN). The MS is connected to a provisioning UNC and discovers a default UNC. A serving UNC is then determined to assign the MS to and the MS is assigned to the serving UNC. The serving UNC can be the default UNC, the provisioning UNC or another UNC.

Method and system to assign mobile stations to an unlicensed mobile access network controller in an unlicensed radio access network

A method of controlling the allocation of transmission resources to wireless terminals within a radio access network, which resources are required for the provision of an IP Multimedia service to the terminals. The method comprises, in the event of a requirement to change the allocation of transmission resources to a given wireless terminal, sending a resource allocation request from a control node of the IP Multimedia Subsystem to the radio access network, the request causing a resource control node of the radio access network to change the allocation of access network resources to the wireless terminal.
