Diffusion transfer color films and processes are disclosed which use dye developer chemistry to form at least one color record and which use image dye-releasing thiazolidine chemistry to form at least one of the other color records.

The blue light response of solid state photosensitive devices such as silicon based charge-coupled devices (CCDs), charged-injection devices, photovoltaic devices and the like is enhanced by applying to the surface thereof a thin layer which includes a first, or donor, dye which absorbs efficiently in the blue region of the spectrum and a second, or acceptor, dye which absorbs efficiently in the green region of the spectrum, there being substantial overlap between the emission spectrum of the donor and the absorption spectrum of the acceptor. The relative concentrations of the dyes are controlled such that the donor dye transfers energy nonradiatively to the acceptor dye which is caused to fluoresce thereby emitting light in the region where the device has substantial photoresponse.

Photosensitive devices having enhanced blue light response

The present invention is directed to photosensitive elements and to diffusion transfer film units employing said elements wherein said photosensitive element includes a plurality of essential layers, including a first photosensitive silver halide layer and a second photosensitive silver halide layer, said first and second silver halide layers being sensitized to substantially the same spectral absorption range; a spacer layer intermediate and contiguous to said first and second silver halide layers, said spacer layer consisting essentially of inert particles which are substantially non-swelling in alkali, and substantially non-film forming; wherein said inert particles are equal to or less than the average diameter of the silver halide grains in said first and second silver halide layers and wherein said silver halide grains are 2.5 microns or less in average diameter; said first and second silver halide layers having associated therewith a dye image-forming material which is diffusible during processing as a function of the point-to-point degree of silver halide exposure to actinic radiation.

Novel diffusion transfer film units

The present invention relates to photography and, more particularly, to diffusion transfer process photographic film units which comprise a photosensitive element adapted to provide, by diffusion transfer photographic processing, selective dye image recordation of incident actinic radiation as a function of the point-to-point degree of photosensitive element exposure, which film unit includes a plurality of photosensitive units each exhibiting a predetermined gamma of substantially the same value and within a range of 1.1 to 1.7 and at least one of the units includes, in contiguous relationship, a first silver halide photosensitive layer comprising a particulate dispersion of photosensitive silver halide crystals, preferably silver iodobromide, iodochloride and/or iodochlorobromide crystals, possessing a first gamma and a second silver halide photosensitive layer possessing a second gamma having disposed therein dye developer which is diffusible during processing as a function of the point-to-point degree of silver halide layer exposure to incident actinic radiation. The value of the first said gamma differs from that of said second gamma by at least about 0.25, said gammas, taken together, are within the range of about 1.7 to 3.0 and each is greater than the predetermined gamma, said first silver halide layer exhibits sensitivity to incident radiation actinic to the layer in excess of the sensitivity exhibited to said radiation by said second silver halide layer; and the photographic speed differential between said first and said second layer is within the range of about 1 to 7 stops, and a layer adapted to receive dye diffusing thereto; and to specified diffusion transfer processes employing such film units.
