A system including a first transportable element having a first work space; and a second transportable element having a second work space, wherein the first and second work spaces each contain a portion of an equipment, wherein all of the equipment is contained in the first and second work spaces, and wherein the first and second work spaces are alignable with one another at a worksite such that the equipment can perform an assembly operation at the worksite, the assembly operation including performance of at least one step performed in the first work space and at least one step performed in the second work space.

System and method for performing an operation in at least two individually transported work spaces

A solid-state laser oscillator/amplifier system, which combines in a single laser crystal the operations of a narrow beam oscillator and a large volume amplifier, utilizes the polarization feature of the laser beam to effect coupling of an amplified beam out of the resonator in a manner which efficiently utilizes the whole volume of the active medium. The system generates a high brightness laser beam with high output energy contained in a small divergence angle.

A multiple crystal, single pumping cavity laser system comprises an optical pumping cavity, several laser crystal rods disposed in the cavity and having differently sized diameters and with their axes parallel, an optical coupling device for coupling the rods in a chain of increasing diametrical size, an optical pumping source for providing an optimum pumping level for the largest rod, and attenuators for all but the largest sized rod for attenuating the energy absorbed by the smaller rods. Since all of the laser rods are disposed and pumped in a single pumping capacity, only a single pumping source is required. The housing containing the pumping cavity is thermally and mechanically isolated from the rail holding the other system components to prevent shock from being transmitted to the other components.

A multiple crystal, single pumping cavity laser system comprises an optical pumping chamber, several laser crystal rods disposed in the chamber and having differently sized diameters and with their axes parallel, an optical coupling device for coupling the rods in a chain of increasing diametrical size, an optical pumping source for providing an optimum pumping level for the largest rod, and attenuators for all but the largest sized rod for attenuating the energy absorbed by the smaller rods. All of the laser rods are disposed and pumped in a single pumping chamber. The housing containing the pumping chamber is thermally and mechanically isolated from the rail holding the other system components to prevent shock from being transmitted to the other components.

A film holding cassette comprises a frame having film holding means for receiving and holding a photographic plate in a first position in the frame. The frame has track means for receiving a substantially light proof front cover plate for movement between a first position substantially overlying one side of the photographic plate, and a second position adjacent the first position wherein the cover plate does not overlie the photographic plate. The track means also receives a substantially light-proof back cover plate for movement between a first position substantially overlying the other side of the photographic plate to protect the photographic plate from exposure, and a second position adjacent the first position wherein the cover plate does not overlie the photographic plate to allow entry and removal of the photographic plate from the film holding means. The front cover plate includes means for detachably engaging its front edges to a light filter means associated with a camera, so that the light filter means occupies the first position substantially overlying one side of a photographic plate when the front cover plate is in its second position.

A method for recording lifelike images of human subjects comprises the steps of illuminating the subject with a light source of substantially the same color as the wavelength of the laser to thereby simulate the laser for at least a predetermined time period necessary to adapt the subject's eyes to the intensity level of the light source; extinguishing the light source; opening the shutter; and activating a pulse laser, wherein the extinguishing, opening, and activating steps are performed within a time period of approximately 0.5 seconds.

Method for recording holographic images of human subjects

A shutterless pulse laser holographic recording system comprises a holographic image recording medium, a high pass filter positioned between the medium and the object whose image is to be recorded, a white light source to illuminate the object, and a low pass filter between the white light source and the object. The filtering arrangement allows illumination of the object with white light before and during the holographic recording event but prevents the illumination light from reaching the medium. A method for recording is also described.

Shutterless pulse laser recording system and method

A method of producing a real image plane hologram illuminable by a white light point source is disclosed. A transmission hologram, which is produced by either a diverging reference beam or a collimated reference beam, is positioned relative to a reconstruction beam which is the conjugate time reversed beam of the reference beam used to create the real image on the transmission hologram. A mask defining a generally elliptically-shaped opening is placed over the transmission hologram to construct the real image. A photographic plate is positioned in a plane generally parallel to the plane containing the transmission hologram, approximately at the location of the reconstructed real image. A converging reference beam is then directed at the photographic plate to create a real image plane hologram. The real image can be reconstructed from the real image plane hologram by illuminating it with a diverging white light point source at the conjugate time reversed position of the converging reference beam. Steps are also disclosed for enlarging or reducing the image recorded in the image plane hologram relative to the size of the image recorded in the transmission plane hologram, while minimizing spectral dispersion and maximizing achromaticity.

Method of recording holographic images in white light image plane

Safety mechanisms for use in recording holographic images of human subjects are disclosed for preventing a human subject from exposure to the reference beam and the object beam. The safety mechanisms comprise an array of light generating elements, and associated light sensing elements such as photocells arranged along the periphery of the reference beam path. When a subject blocks the reference beam path, the subject will also block sensing light from reaching a photocell, which will prevent the reference beam from traversing its normal path, preferably by disabling the energization circuit of the laser. Another embodiment of a safety mechanism comprises a protective housing which encloses the reference beam path. A safety mechanism is also disclosed for disabling the laser in response to the absence of ground glass screen diffuser in the path of the object beam. A method is also disclosed for recording lifelike images of human subjects comprising the steps of illuminating the subject with a white light source for a predetermined time period, extinguishing the white light source, opening the holographic recording material shutter, activating a pulse laser to generate an object and reference beam to record a hologram, and closing the shutter.

Apparatus and method for recording holographic images of human subjects

A method for recording and reconstructing a hologram recorded with two pulse laser beams having different wavelengths in order to increase the illuminance of the reconstructed image recorded in one of said channels is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of generating a first reconstruction beam at a wavelength shifted from the wavelength of the recording beam having the lesser illuminance if the two recording beams had equal irradiance toward a direction of the other recording beam. The wavelength of the second reconstruction beam has a value shifted from its associated recording beam by an amount equal the value that said first reconstruction beam is shifted from its associated recording beam. The resultant reconstructed images from the two reconstruction beams are generally equal in size and are in co-registration. The amount of shift is chosen so that the reconstruction wavelengths have substantially equal illuminance for an equal amount of irradiation. The product obtained by the recording method is also disclosed.

Method for recording and reconstructing pulse laser holograms in color

An apparatus and method for making holographic copies of film holograms via a contact copying process is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a tray having a clear flat bottom which receives the hologram master film, the blank film and a cover sheet. A pressure roller is provided to move across the cover sheet, to establish good optical contact between the films, in unison with and in alignment with a slit defining curtain being moved across the underside of the tray. A hologram reconstruction beam is beneath and aimed at the curtain so that light passes through the slit and duplicates onto the blank film only that part of the master hologram and film hologram subject to pressure from the pressure roller.
