A disclosed apparatus or method can include or use a non-transluminally implantable blood pump housing, which can be sized and shaped to be implanted at an aortic valve of a human subject, the pump housing can include: a pump housing cross-sectional profile size that is larger than is passable via a blood vessel of the human subject; and a power connection, configured for being electrically connected to an intravascular lead that is sized and shaped to extend from the pump housing through a subclavian artery of the human subject.

Aortic pump devices and methods

The present application relates to a blood pump, preferably for assisting a heart, wherein the blood pump comprises a housing with a distal inlet, a proximal inlet, and a mandrel arranged between the inlet and the outlet. A rotor with blading is arranged on the mandrel coaxially and rotatably. The rotor is mounted on the mandrel magnetically in an axial direction. In one embodiment the outlet is situated proximally to a proximal end of the blading of the rotor.

Blood pump, preferably for assisting a heart

A cardiac assistance system is provided that comprises two pumps and cannulae connected thereto. A first pump of the two pumps is configured to connect to a right heart system via a first fluid channel. The first fluid channel formed at least partially by a first two cannulae of the cannulae. A second pump of the two pumps is configured to connect to a left heart system via a second fluid channel. The second fluid channel formed at least partially by a second two of the cannulae. The two pumps are configured as rotary pumps for arrangement outside a patient's body.

A blood pump has a hollow body in which an impeller with a spiral blading produces an axial propulsion of blood along the impeller, as well as an at least partly actively stabilized magnetic bearing device and a hydrodynamic bearing device for the impeller. The impeller may be set into a rotation about a rotation axis of the impeller with a motor stator located outside the hollow body. The hollow body has an inlet for the flow of blood into the hollow body in an inflow direction which is essentially parallel to the rotation axis, and an outlet for the outflow of the blood out of the hollow body in an outflow direction which is offset to the rotation axis of the impeller to produce a non-zero outflow angle (&#x3b1;) between the inflow direction and the outflow direction. A total artificial heart can be formed from two such blood pumps.

Blood pump

A blood pump includes a hollow body in which an impeller with blading is provided for producing an axial propulsion of blood along the impeller. An at least partly actively stabilized magnetic bearing device is provided wherein the impeller may be set into a rotation about a rotation axis of the impeller, with a motor stator. The hollow body has an inlet for the flow of blood into the hollow body in an inflow direction which is essentially parallel to the rotation axis, and an outlet for the outflow of the blood out of the hollow body in an outflow direction.

A blood pump having an axially tubular inlet, a tangential chamber adjoining the axial inlet and having a substantially radial outlet, with an axial guide body connected to the outlet and/or to the tangential chamber, an impeller supported on the guide body and having an inner surface facing the guide body and an outer surface as well as blading arranged on the outer surface. At least one part region of the guide body projects from the tangential chamber into the inlet, wherein at least one section of the stator transmitting a force onto the rotor is arranged in the part region. The impeller is supported by a hydrodynamic radial bearing in the radial direction.

A connecting element for connecting a blood pump or a cannula to a heart, the connecting element including a sealing element, which is designed to at least temporarily close an opening formed in the cardiac wall and to be opened via insertion of a preferably cylindrical object in the direction of an axis of the opening.

A rotational pump capable of running at a rotational speed (n) having a system for direct or indirect measurement of pressure difference or flow rate across the pump, wherein a control system is designed to calculate an index of pulsatility (PI) of the pressure difference or flow rate, estimating the gradient of PI with respect to the rotational speed (dPI/dn) and regulating the dPI/dn to a pre-defined set-point or regulating the pump in a way that the dPI/dn is minimal.
