The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for requesting scheduling of resources to be used for uplink communication of data in a communications system. If the repeated transmission by a user equipment of scheduling requests on an uplink control channel is determined to be unsuccessful, a random access transmission on a random access channel is initiated as a fallback procedure.

Systems and method for limiting the number of scheduling requests

Scheduling requests are transmitted from a mobile terminal to a base station. The mobile sends a first scheduling request to the base station, the first scheduling request being associated with first data to be transmitted to the base station. The mobile receives a scheduling grant from the base station in response to the first scheduling request and transmits a buffer status report to the base station in response to receiving the scheduling grant. An HARQ acknowledgment for the buffer status report is received. Second data is received for transmission to the base station while at least some of the first data is waiting to be transmitted to the base station. A change in a buffer status of the mobile terminal is detected indicating that the second data has higher priority than the first data. The mobile transmits a second subsequent scheduling request to the base station in response to the change in buffer status.

Methods and systems for scheduling resources in a telecommunication system

Aspects of the present invention relate to the scheduling of resources in a telecommunication system that includes a mobile terminal and base station. In one embodiment, the mobile terminal sends an initial scheduling request to a base station. Subsequently, the mobile terminal does not transmit a scheduling request to the base station unless and until a scheduling request triggering event is detected.

Method and apparatus in a telecommunication system

A relay node identified by a unique relay node identifier relays communications between a donor base station and one or more user terminals. The donor base station acquires the relay node identifier during a relay node attach procedure from where the relay node or another node in the core network (e.g., mobile management entity). The donor base station may use the relay node identifier to retrieve configuration information for the relay node. The configuration information may be used to configure the relay node, to perform radio resource management functions, and/or to monitor the performance of the relay node.

Identification of relay nodes in a communication network

In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of operating a relay node includes receiving information, at the relay node, information identifying a plurality of subframes. The subframes represent time periods during which a base station may grant the relay node permission to transmit to the base station on a first frequency. The method also involves selecting one of the identified subframes to be used for a transmission between the relay node and a wireless terminal on the first frequency and transmits to the wireless terminal a scheduling grant granting the wireless terminal permission to transmit information on the first frequency during the selected subframe.

System and method for scheduling wireless transmissions

The present invention relates to allowing configuring CSI reporting (step S-) on radio resources that are allocated over a plurality of sub frames on Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH). Allocation of said radio resources (steps S-) can be performed by semi-persistent allocation or by using Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundling. By using either semi-persistent scheduling or TTI-bundling as decided by an eNB () the UE () can be configured to report CSI (step S-) for a plurality of UL transmissions. By allocating radio resources by using semi-persistent scheduling, the signaling overhead, which can be substantial for dynamic scheduling of radio resources, decreases. By using TTI-bundling the coverage of the CSI-reports increases.

Method and apparatus for transmitting CSI on the PUSCH in an LTE system

In a cellular radio system a UE transmits CQI reports on a periodic basis and also transmits CQI reports upon a request from the radio base station. The UE is further adapted to cancel transmission of a periodic CQI report upon reception of a request for a requested CQI report.

According to various embodiments, a method is provided at a relay node for enabling subframe allocation between a backhaul link and an access link of the relay node. The relay node is connected to a controlling entity via the backhaul link, and is connectable to at least one user equipment via the access link. The relay node receives a trigger or configuration information from the controlling entity from the controlling entity. Based on the received trigger or configuration information, the relay node sends information to the controlling entity, indicating a resource utilization of the access link and/or indicating a quality of the access link.

Automatically adjust the size of a Physical Uplink Control Channel, PUCCH, of an uplink communication subframe. In a particular embodiment, the size of a semi-static region of the PUCCH is adjusted. The adjustment is based on a utilization factor of the PUCCH over a time period. The adjustment can also be based on the connection factor (connections between the wireless terminals and the cell) and/or based on the utilization factor of a PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel). A method in a wireless network containing a first node and an adjacent second node for determining an uplink received power target value of the second node to be used by a user equipment which is to be served by the second node includes establishing the uplink received power target value of the first node. The method also includes obtaining the downlink power capacity of the first node and obtaining the downlink power capacity of the second node. Additionally, the method includes calculating the difference in downlink power capacity between the first node and the second node and determining the uplink received power target value of the second node based on the calculated difference in downlink power capacity between the nodes and the established uplink received power target value of the first node.
