Optical detectors used for remote controls must be able to function over long distances and under various environmental conditions. They must therefore have a high sensitivity, which means they also respond to electrical and magnetic inference fields. The present optical detector avoids the need of being packed in an assembly, which has an additional internal metal shield for protection against electromagnetic interference. In this optical detector, the surface is coated with polysilicon, except for the top-lying cathode contact. Furthermore, a thick oxide layer is arranged between the substrate and the polysilicon coating, which is contacted to a highly p -doped region of the substrate. Such optical detectors, which are not subject to electromagnetic interference, are primarily required for remote controls.

Optical detector

The invention relates to a combination of monolithically integrated semiconductor arrays each having a number of prefabricated standard elements that can be connected together using one or more metalization layers to form different signal processing units. The standard elements prefabricated on the semiconductor array comprise a number of base cells, a number of capacitors, a number of output transistors and a number of photodiodes arranged in rows and columns. The base cells each contain a number of npn and pnp transistors and a number of resistors. The common arrangement of base cells for signal processing and a photodiode array arranged in rows and columns in addition to the capacitors and output transistors permit low cost manufacture at short notice and in small production quantities of a wide variety of different photodetectors with integrated electronic circuits.

Integrated semiconductor array combination with standard elements

The invention relates to a circuit array for an optical Schmitt trigger in which an optical input signal is converted into an electrical output signal by means of a light-sensitive receiver element, an amplifier stage, a Schmitt trigger stage and an output stage. It is provided in accordance with the invention that the amplifier stage contains a transimpedance amplifier stage, a differential amplifier stage, a first reference network and a compensating element, that the Schmitt trigger stage comprises a differential amplifier stage, a second reference network and a positive-feedback network, and that the output signal is emitted at the circuit output of the output stage.

According to the invention there is provided an arrangement comprising several light-sensitive components, with one rectifying component connected in series to each light-sensitive component, further comprising a lead matrix with column leads and line leads, with the mth line lead connected directly to the mth column lead and to the remaining column leads through one series connection, respectively, consisting of a light-sensitive component and a rectifying component. External contacts are attached to the line leads or column leads.
