Briefly, embodiments of methods and/or systems of providing relevant and diverse recommendations are disclosed. For one embodiment, as an example, a system may extract structured and/or semi-structured parameters from web resources obtained from interaction logs comprising records of browsing sessions. Content from extracted parameters may be compared, using an ontology, to find relationships among web resources and query resources.

Methods, systems and programming for entity recognition in a query. In one example, an index that associates an alias with one or more entities is obtained. Each of the one or more entities is associated with one or more features. A query associated with one or more features is received from a user. The alias is then identified in the query. At least one of the one or more entities is determined based, at least in part, on the features associated with each of the one or more entities and the features associated with the query.

Method and system for entity recognition in a query

The present invention provides a method and system for providing targeted applications within a search engine results page. The method and system includes receiving a search query from a user and interpreting the search query. The method and system then first maps the interpreted query to one or more action templates, wherein mapping the interpreted query to one or more action templates comprises selecting one or more actions associated with the interpreted query. The method and system then maps the selected one or more actions associated with the interpreted query to a plurality of applications and selecting one or more applications associated with the one or more actions. Finally, the method and system displays the one or more applications within a search results page.

System and method for providing contextual actions on a search results page

A user search for quotes attributable to people or information regarding the quotes is fulfilled by providing the relevant information from a quote index. The quote index is built from a data store comprising articles that include quotes given by people. Quotes are extracted from the articles along with the relevant attributes such as the keywords, topics and entities. The extracted keywords, topics and entities are indexed with unique identifiers. A quote index is built by storing the quotes along with the keywords, topics and related entities. Quotes or information associated with the quotes based on various criteria is retrieved and presented in different formats.

Editorial curation of search results includes: receiving a search results page rendered in response to a search query; receiving user edits to the search results page, the user edits including changes to objects in the search results page; and applying the user edits to the search results page.

Interactive interface for object search

An automated technique for tagging documents includes using a semantic tagger to generate an annotation that associates a standard tag with a first text fragment of the user-defined document, wherein the tagger is trained on a standard document annotated with a standard tag, associating the first user-defined tag with a second text fragment of the user-defined document in response to the second text fragment matching a value associated with the first user-defined tag, and establishing a mapping between the standard tag and the first user-defined tag in response to existence of a requisite correlation between the standard tag and the user-defined tag. The technique may further include selecting from the user-defined document a tagged text fragment that is associated with a second user-defined tag, and providing the tagged text fragment and a standard tag associated by the mapping with the second user-defined tag to the tagger as additional training input.

Automated tagging of documents

The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for using metadata to improve search result presentation. The method according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises receiving a search query from a user and parsing the search query and retrieving a ranked list of search results. The method then extracts metadata from the search results and casts the extracted metadata into an object model. A template is then applied to the cast extracted metadata and a search results page is generated comprising the ranked list of search results and the templated metadata.
