According to the invention, transferring money using a computer network is disclosed. In one step, information is saved on credit received for a first user () in a stored value account on a server computer system (). At the server computer system (), a request from the first user () to send money to a second user () based on the stored value account is received. An electronic notification is sent from the server computer () to the second user () to notify the second user () of the request. A debit in the stored value account of the first user () is created. The requested money is sent to the second user () upon a receipt of a request at the server computer () from the second user ().

Requestor-based funds transfer system and methods

According to the invention, a method for purchasing a negotiable instrument from an online payment system by a payor to compensate a payee in relation to a listing on a vending site is disclosed. In one step, a payment currency and/or a drawee bank nationality is selected for the online payment system to use when issuing the payment instrument. Payment information is received from the payor and comprises at least two of: a payee identifier, a payee name, a payee address, and a payment amount. A money handler associated with the payor is debited for at least the payment amount. The payment instrument payable to the payee name for the payment amount is generated. That payment instrument is based on at least one of the payment currency and the drawee bank nationality. The payment currency is different from a currency used by the money handler. The payment instrument is delivered to the payee.

International negotiable instrument payment

According to the invention, a method for automatically processing an incoming payment for a payee with an online money transfer system. In one step, information is received at the online money transfer system. That information relates to processing of one or more received payments associated with the payee. At some point, the incoming payment associated with the payee is received. A default repository for the incoming payment is determined. It is determined whether to transfer at least some of the incoming payment away from the default repository or escrow at least a portion of the incoming payment for benefit of at least one predetermined party. Either the earmark or the escrow is applied after this determination.

Stored value payouts

According to the invention, a method for automatically transferring an incoming payment to a handler is disclosed. In one step, the incoming payment associated with a payee is received. A first predetermined rule that applies to the incoming payment is determined. The first predetermined rule is applied to the incoming payment. It is determined if a second predetermined rule applies to the incoming payment. The second predetermined rule is applied to the incoming payment based upon the second-listed determining step.

According to the invention, a method for creating an electronic greeting card enclosing an electronic gift is disclosed. In one step, the electronic greeting card selection is received from a sender along with a selection of at least one of a type of electronic gift, an amount for the electronic gift, and an identifier for a receiver of the electronic gift. Payment for the electronic gift is received from a money handler chosen by the sender. A code indicative of the electronic gift is received, whereby the code facilitates redemption of the electronic gift. The code is embedded in the electronic greeting card.

Electronic gift linking

According to the invention, a method for creating an electronic greeting card that references a gift is disclosed. In one step, a selection of the electronic greeting card is received from a sender of that greeting card. Identification of the gift is received. A code indicative of the gift is created, whereby the code facilitates retrieving information about the gift. The code is embedded in the electronic greeting card.

According to the invention, a method for transferring a credit amount out of an online system using a money order is disclosed. In one step, pay-out instructions are received at a server computer system from a wide-area computer network coupled to a payor. The pay-out instructions include at least two of a payee, a delivery location, and the credit amount. A first handler associated with the payor and a second handler for preparation of the money order according to the pay-out instructions are determined. The credit amount is transferred from the first handler to the online system. The pay-out instructions are sent to the second handler.

Money order debit from stored value fund

A method for facilitating the sale of goods or services comprises receiving at an ordering system payment information relating to a payment instrument that is being used to purchase a good or a service from a merchant. The ordering system transmits a message to the merchant that includes information on the good or service being purchased to permit the merchant to provide the good or service. Funds are collected from an account associated with the payment instrument, and the ordering system transmits to a money transfer computer system information useable by the money transfer computer system to provide a cash payment to the merchant.

Merchant cash payment systems and methods

According to the invention, a process for transferring credit from a sender to a number of recipients using a wide-area computer network is disclosed. In one step, a server computer system receives information from the sender to transfer credit to the number of recipients. The information includes a unique identifier for each of the number of recipients and a credit amount. A first handler chosen by the sender and a second handler chosen by one of the number of recipients are determined. A credit transfer from the first handler is requested. The credit amount from the first handler is received at the server computer system. The credit amount is sent to the second handler associated with the one of the number of recipients.
