The present invention provides compounds and methods for the treatment and prophylaxis of renal disease and inflammation. In particular the invention provides methods for the treatment of kidney disease and failure through the administration of compounds which function as inhibitors of TLR2 function and expression.

The present invention provides compounds and methods for the treatment and prophylaxis of ischemia reperfusion injury. In particular the invention provides compounds which function to suppress Toll-like Receptor 2 biological function or expression.

Composition and method for treatment of reperfusion injury and tissue damage

The present invention provides compositions and methods for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, in particular rheumatoid arthritis. Compounds which function as antagonists of Toll-like Receptor 2 are shown to suppress the immune response which result in the onset and progression of autoimmune disease. In particular monoclonal antibodies which have a binding specificity to Toll-like receptor 2 are disclosed for use in methods for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of autoimmune disease.
