There is provided, in combination, male and female cooperating teledapt connectors located in a recess with respect to a mounting surface so as to minimize electrostatic discharge between an operator's hand and the connectors, wherein the male connector has a main body from which a tongue projects, and the female connector defines a groove in which the tongue is adapted to lie. The tongue has shoulders which, when the connectors are put together, come into contact with abutments formed in the female connector, such contact preventing release of the connectors until pressure is exerted to move the tongue toward the main body and thus to break contact between the shoulders and the abutments. The key to achieving this is the provision of an actuator having an attachment portion and an operative portion, the attachment portion being adapted to mount the operative portion so that the operative portion extends adjacent the tongue and projects out of the recess far enough to be manipulated so as to move the tongue toward said main body far enough to break contact between the shoulder means and the abutment means.

Apparatus for releasing teledapt cables from deeply recessed RJ connectors

Many device components included a printed circuit board supporting light-generating means along with a light pipe to conduct light from the light-generating means to a diffuser adjacent the surface of the components. The present invention offers an improvement whereby the light pipe can be utilized both for transmission of visible wavelengths and for transmission/reception of invisible (infrared) wavelengths. To accomplish this, a light pipe is constituted of two adjacent portions, and an infrared transceiver module is coupled into both portions.

An adjunct part can be secured to a host part, where the host part defines a recess configured to allow a threaded fastener to secure the host part to a further part. The adjunct part has a resilient boss projecting therefrom and adapted to enter the recess, the boss having an axially extending opening to receive a threaded tightening member. The boss and the threaded tightening member have configurations which allow the tightening member, as it advances into the boss along the opening, to resiliently urge portions of the boss radially outward into binding contact with the interior of the recess, thereby fastening the adjunct part to the host part.

Method and apparatus for attaching moulded enclosures

A unitary gasket component is designed to provide a complex acoustic path for bringing sound to a microphone. The path includes a pre-plenum and apertures to allow external sound into the pre-plenum. The path further includes an acoustic filter communicating with the pre-plenum and defining relatively small openings for sound to exit the pre-plenum. A voice tube extends from the acoustic filter to a microphone plenum, the latter being in direct communication with the microphone.
