The present invention provides a dolly () having a deck () including a plurality of rotatable members () secured thereto to support the deck () relative to a support surface () and enable the dolly () to move on the support surface (). Each rotatable member () has a skirt element () located adjacent thereto. The or each skirt element () is movable relative to the deck () between a first position in which each rotatable member () is exposed beyond the adjacent skirt element () to a first extent and a second position in which each rotatable member () is exposed beyond the adjacent skirt element () to a second extent. The second extent is less than the first extent. Movement of the or each skirt element () between the first and second positions selectively engages a brake () to inhibit movement of the dolly () relative to the support surface ().
