In a stripline laser, the spacer rods are traversed by coolant, and are of composite structure for compensating the longitudinal expansions and define the invariant spacing of the two resonator mirrors that are indirectly firmly joined with the spacer rods.

In a stripline laser, each electrode is fashioned as a composite of a carrier part having a mechanically stable profile and a plate-shaped electrode part having integrated cooling that is hard-soldered or welded thereto and faces toward the discharge gap.

In a traveling wave tube, an electron beam collector and an electrically insulating cylinder having good thermal conductivity and dielectric strength are arranged in a bore of a cooling housing to improve heat elimination from the electron beam collector. The cylinder is deformable in a radial direction, is of an elastic material, and is dimensioned so that it fixes the electron beam collector in the bore of the housing with a tight fit.

A delay line for travelling wave tubes, particularly travelling wave tube whose gain and whose output power are independent of frequency over a plurality of octaves and contain a helix (9) in an electrically conductive cylinder (5). The helix is fixed and adjusted by retaining rods (8). Loading webs (4) are arranged parallel to the axis of the adjoining electrically conductive cylinder (5) and a small gap (12) is left free adjacent the helix (9). The extremely high requirement for mechanical dimensional accuracy and reproducibility of the dimensions in such delay lines are obtained by using loading webs (4) which are integrally formed in the electrically conductive cylinder (5).

Method of manufacturing and assembling a TWT delay line

A heatable sorption getter body for reactive residual gas clean-up in sealed vessels is provided. The getter body includes an insulating member, two electrical contacts, and a getter composition applied over surface portions of the insulating member. The insulating member serves as a carrier for the getter composition. The getter precursor composition is applied preliminarily after which the resulting dried assembly is subjected to sintering to complete preparation of the getter composition before the getter body is positioned in a sealed vessel.

Directly heated sorption getter body

An apparatus for maintaining constant pressure in gas discharge vessels, particularly for flat plasma picture screens with electron post-acceleration. The gas pressure is kept constant in the gas discharge vessel. For this purpose, a glass container preferably filled with helium is applied in the gas discharge vessel, this glass container being provided with a heater for temperature control and thus provides variable gas permeability. An apparatus of the invention is particularly employed for flat plasma picture screens.

A gas discharge panel normally comprises a number of mutually parallel plates (1, 2, 3, 4) which are joined together at their edges by a glass solder forming a frame. At least some of the plates support operational electrodes (8, 9, 11, 12, 15) that are passed through the glass solder frame (16). Such a cell is normally first soldered together at about 450.degree. C., then fully cooled and subsequently baked at 320.degree. C. According to the invention, the baking is effected during the cooling phase; that is, the cell is held at the baking temperature for a while as it cools. Such a heat treatment is favorable in seveal respects: The baking temperature, which previously was limited by the temperature alternation stress, can be increased by at least 50.degree. C.; the total time required for the soldering and baking can be cut at least in half; and the electrodes (8, 9, 11, 12, 15) can no longer react with the ambient air between soldering and baking. By further carrying out the soldering in an inert gas atmosphere, reproducible results may be obtained even with sensitive electrodes. The gas discharge panel may be used as a flat picture screen where electrons are produced in a plasma and, after being post-accelerated to several kV, are directed onto a phosphor.

Gas discharge display device and method for its production

A spacer mount for a gas-discharge display device in which glass elements are arranged between a control hole plate and a fluorescent screen carrying image points of luminous material has a plurality of glass plates stacked one atop another between the control hole plate and the fluorescent screen. The glass layers include holes aligned with the holes of the control hole plate and the image points, and at least one metal layer is interposed between at least two of the glass plates and has holes aligned with the holes of the control hole plate.
