A wireless earbud system includes a first earbud assembly and a second earbud assembly. Each of the first earbud assembly and the second earbud assembly include a housing, an audio driver disposed within the housing, and a wireless receiving unit operatively coupled to the audio driver. The wireless receiving unit is configured to receive a wireless data signal and drive the audio driver based on audio data transmitted in the wireless data signal. The wireless earbud system may also include a tether with a first end and a second end. The first end of the tether is configured to removably couple to the first earbud assembly by a first detachable connector, and the second end of the tether is configured to removably couple to the second earbud assembly by a second detachable connector. Methods also relate to the wireless earbud system.

In-ear headphone assemblies and related methods are disclosed. An in-ear headphone assembly includes a rigid shell, a rigid nozzle, and a resilient overmold structure permanently molded to the rigid nozzle and the rigid shell. The resilient overmold structure secures a proximal end of the rigid nozzle proximate to a first side of the rigid shell defining a sound aperture. The resilient overmold structure defines a sound passage acoustically coupling a volume defined by the rigid shell to a sound channel of the rigid nozzle through the sound aperture and the proximal end of the rigid nozzle. A method of manufacturing a headphone assembly includes positioning the rigid nozzle and the rigid shell within a cavity of a mold, and injecting a polymer or polymer precursor material into the cavity of the mold.

A headphone includes an ear-cup housing having an internal surface defining an internal chamber, a hole extending through the ear-cup housing, and a cable anchor device within the ear-cup housing proximate the hole. The cable anchor device includes a first support member attached to the internal surface on a first side of the hole, a second support member attached to the internal surface on a second side of the hole opposite the first side, and a cross member extending between the first support member and the second support member. A method of fabricating a headphone having such a cable anchor device includes inserting a cable through a cable hole extending through the ear-cup housing and wrapping the cable around the cross member of the cable anchor device at least once.

Retention members for an in-ear headphone include a base portion and a substantially straight flexible finger extending from the base portion. Absent external forces, the flexible finger includes a substantially straight longitudinal axis and a back surface extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion and having a plurality of recesses along a length of the back surface. The flexible finger is configured to, during use, bend into a curved shape for disposition under a user's antihelix. In-ear headphones include a shell defining a volume housing an audio driver, a nozzle extending from the shell configured for at least partial insertion into an ear canal, and a flexible retention member coupled to the shell, the flexible finger including a substantially straight longitudinal axis, a back surface, and a concave front surface.

Earbud headphones configured for use with a portable media player that include a main body portion with an extended curvature configuration. In one example implementation, the earbud headphones include a speaker housing and an extension that form a gap between the speaker housing and the extension. A user can secure a portion of the user's outer ear in the gap (i.e., between the extension and speaker housing), such that the earbud is securely and comfortably held in place within the user's ear. Additionally, the earbud headphones can include interchangeable components, such that a user can customize the size, fit, and style of the earbud headphones.
