A rules change management system and method. The system comprises a first computing system comprising a first memory system. The first memory system comprises a rules change management engine. The first computing system receives a set of meta-rules associated with rules stored in a second memory system within a second computing system. The set of meta-rules are stored in the first memory system. The computing system receives a request to change a rule of the rules. The rules change management engine applies at least one associated meta-rule of the set of meta-rules to the request. The rules change management engine determines if the request may be executed based on the applying.

System and method for managing changes to business rules

A method of testing changes to externalized rules is provided. The method comprises using a rules change management engine and receiving from it a test request for a rules change for a rule. Further, the method comprises providing regression test buckets for testing a version of a rule against each of a plurality of exploiting systems that exploits the rule, and determining for the test request for the rules change received, which of the regression test buckets should be executed against which of the plurality of exploiting systems that exploits the rule and running, using a test rules management system, the regression test buckets that are determined should be executed. The method further comprises reporting results of the regression test buckets that are run to the rules change management engine, such that the rules change management engine is able to determine whether or not to implement the rules change.

Method, system and program product for automated testing of changes to externalized rules

A complex industrial process is operated via computer control. Process control data regarding multiple process control variables is collected, along with output data regarding one or more process output properties. One or more of the process control variables is altered for a predetermined time in order to determine which of the process control variables are affecting the one or more process output properties. An effect on the one or more output properties due to the altering is determined, and, if necessary, a set point for the one or more process control variables is altered based on the effect in order to improve the process.

Method, system and article of manufacture for operating a process

An in-band method/apparatus whereby a host is enabled to secure predetermined operational information relative to predetermined ports of a fiber channel switch. A set command is generated at the host and sent in-band to the switch. The information content of the set command defines the ports for which operational-parameters are to be monitored. The information content of the set command also defines which operational parameters are to be monitored. In response to receiving the set command, the switch establishes statistical counters for monitoring port operational parameters in accordance with received operational parameter identifiers. An accept signal is then sent in-band to the host, and a time period of port monitoring begins. After a predefined time period has expired, the host sends a read command in-band to the switch. The switch now generates a monitor record in accordance with the count content of the statistical counters that were established in response to the set command. This monitor record contains one port field for each of the ports that were specified by the set command, and each of the port fields contains one or more count fields that contain port operational count data for the port operational parameters that were specified by the set command. The monitor record is then sent in-band to the host. Recycling of the timed process may be provided.
