An apparatus for feeding and cutting lengths of tape and advancing the lengths to a vacuum wheel applicator, the feed section of the apparatus comprising a feed roll, an anvil vacuum roll, and a rotary knife adjacent to the anvil vacuum roll, and means for adjusting the speed of the feed roll and the speed of the anvil vacuum roll to vary the length of the tape advanced to the applicator, and a tape roll splicing assembly to provide a continuous supply of tape to the apparatus.

Web material advance system for web material applicator

An apparatus and method for providing continuous supply of transfer tape to an applicator machine. The method includes unwinding the tape from the rolls to erase the roll memory in the tape, advancing the tape along a web path through knife elements to staging areas and past pinch rollers to the applicator. A second tape is placed on the staging plate for splicing to the first tape at the pinch roller. The first tape is cut and the second tape is advanced to the applicator.

Splicing system affording a continuous web material supply for an applicator

An apparatus and method for providing continuous web material to an applicator machine, comprising a placement arm for supporting a length of splicing tape and the end of a substitute roll for attachment to a supply web, and a knife holder mounted for movement from a standby position to a position engaged by the substitute web to trigger movement of the cutting knife of the knife holder for cutting the supply web.

A free turning chilling wheel assembly for use with a hot melt dispenser affording quick disassembly for cleaning, inspection, repair or replacement, and having an outer ring with an inner bronze bearing to rotate about a stationary inner cooling chamber, which is sealed to avoid wear and leaks. The outer ring is chilled by fluid flowing through the chamber and the sides of the outer ring are shielded by shielding washers to avoid adhesive building up on the bearing surfaces and ends.
