A lamp including a primary light source and a secondary light source, and a secondary light source control circuit configured to provide an operating voltage to the secondary light source. The secondary light source control circuit including a resistance element having an initial resistance which changes in response to being exposed to a temperature above a predetermined threshold. The secondary light source control circuit including a charging branch resistance-capacitance time constant that is configured to change with a change in the resistance element resistance.

Bright-from-the-start compact fluorescent lamp with lumen-shift elimination circuitry

A fluorescent lighting device includes an arc tube, an exhaust tube extending from the arc tube, and an amalgam. A resistive heater is located adjacent to at least one of the arc tube and the exhaust tube. A power supply circuit is operatively coupled with the resistive heater. When the fluorescent lighting device is switched from an OFF state to an ON state, the power supply circuit temporarily energizes the resistive heater, thereby heating the at least one of the arc tube and the exhaust tube while the resistive heater is energized, and automatically de-energizing the resistive heater after said heating.

Amalgam heater for fluorescent lamps

A lamp assembly provides both instant light through use of an incandescent/halogen light/lamp source and an energy saving type light provided by a compact fluorescent light/lamp source. Both light sources are enclosed within a common envelope or outer bulb. First and second thermal sensors are provided in the lamp envelope at spaced locations to monitor the temperature of the lamp. When the sum of these two temperatures reaches a preselected value, power to the incandescent lamp source is terminated. Alternatively, when the difference these two temperatures reaches a preselected value, power to the incandescent lamp source is terminated.

Using two thermal switches to control a hybrid lamp

A fluorescent lighting device includes a ballast and a tube. An amalgam is located within the tube. A resistive heater is operatively coupled with the ballast, to receive electrical power from the ballast while the fluorescent lighting device is in an OFF state. The resistive heater is mounted near the amalgam to transfer heat to the amalgam while the fluorescent lighting device is in the OFF state.

Amalgam temperature maintaining device for dimmable fluorescent lamps

The present disclosure relates to a lamp part fixing device and method for lamp components made of shape memory alloy. The device includes a main body that carries, for example, a main or auxiliary amalgam, getter, etc. located at a desired position within a discharge tube of a fluorescent lamp. For example, the amalgam can be advantageously located at preselected axial locations and/or within a diffusion path. The main body is configurable between a first configuration and a second configuration. The first configuration allows the mount to move within the discharge tube when the shape memory alloy is below an alloy transition temperature. The second configuration of the main body allows for controlled placement and immobilization of the device within the discharge tube when the shape memory alloy is raised above the alloy transition temperature. The device is shaped in a generally planar or non-planar configuration.

The invention is directed to a lamp assembly, and particularly to a method of fixing a first light source and a second light source in a single lamp assembly. More specifically, the invention provides a lamp assembly and a mechanism for fixing at least two light sources therein, at least one of which is a compact fluorescent light source, an incandescent light source, or a halogen light source, and where the fixing mechanism used involves soldering the lead-in wires of the second light source to a printed circuit board of the lamp assembly, which is in operative connection with the lamp ballast.

The holder has first and second regions with attaching portions adapted to receive an associated attachment member. The holder has a first dimension prior to disposition in the discharge tube.

An LED light bulb that includes a base providing an electrical connector and a substantially hollow envelope extending from the base. The light bulb further includes a metal space separator having a top side, bottom side and side wall that has a plurality of holes connected by at least one channel that extends through the interior of the separator, such that air can pass through the separator. At least one LED is mounted on the separator in electrical connection with the base connector.

A lamp assembly includes an inner assembly that has a CFL source, an electronics board, and a holder that interconnects the CFL source and electronics board. An outer, light transmissive envelope surrounds the inner assembly and various fixing arrangements are disclosed for securing the inner assembly to the outer envelope. Three primary mechanisms are a ratchet mechanism, a spring mechanism, or using adhesive to secure the inner assembly to the outer envelope under a predetermined tension.
