A two-axis satellite antenna mounting and tracking assembly including a universal joint for mounting the antenna to support structure. A pair of linear actuators offset at 90.degree. to each other about the universal joint are operated in full-on/full-off fashion to control the azimuth and elevation orientations of the antenna. Satellite tracking is effected by maximizing received signal strength.

A low profile angular sensor assembly having a base member adapted for rotation about a spin axis and a generally planar gyroscopic element resiliently coupled to the base member for rotation therewith and for pivotal movement relative to the base member about a pivot axis orthogonal to the spin axis also includes a planar piezoelectric beam which is coupled to the base member and to the gyroscopic element so that it is substantially parallel to the gyroscopic element. The coupling is selectively compliant to isolate the piezoelectric beam from motion in the plane of the beam.

Low profile angular rate sensor assembly

A low profile header assembly for an encapsulated instrument includes a plate member with a cavity which is on the side of the plate member external to the instrument. Terminal pins extend through the plate member both within the cavity and beyond its periphery. Hybrid amplifier circuitry is disposed within the cavity and electrically connected to the pins within the cavity. The cavity is hermetically sealed and the internal components of the instrument are electrically connected to the terminal pins within the instrument shell.

To stabilize the line-of-sight of an optical image relative to a commanded line-of-sight, a stabilization system consisting of a mirror having two limited degrees of freedom, a two axis gyroscope having its two sensitive axes perpendicular to the LOS, a pickoff sensor feeding back mirror angular position, servo compensators that provide mirror torque commands to a two axis mirror torquer, and the electronic hardware that ties these components together is used.
