A method for informing mobile stations in a geographic area of an important message is provided. The method includes identifying a geographic area, or zone, comprising at least one base station associated with a cell. A standard registration message associated with each cell in the zone is modified, which modifying results in a modified registration message with a command that is directed towards instructing mobile stations (MSs) that are already registered in the zone to re-register with the zone. The modified registration message then is broadcast from the base station. In response to the transmitting of the modified registration message, the method performs a processing of registration request messages sent from each of the MSs to the base station. In response to the processing, an acknowledge registration message is transmitted to each of the MSs, which acknowledge registration message includes data informing each of the MSs of the important message.

Informing mobile stations of an important message

A service convergence fabric () is operably disposed between a plurality of independent access networks, control networks, and service networks () and a converged application layer (). This service convergence fabric is then used () to receive a service request, process the service request, provide a corresponding response, and publish that response to facilitate the service request. Processing the service request can comprise processing the service request with respect to resources to support the service request, user session status as corresponds to the service request, and user preferences as correspond to the service request. Providing a response can comprise providing a response that comprises at least one of a processed service request and a converged response to the service request.

Method and apparatus regarding use of a service convergence fabric

A communication device contains multiple microphones that receive acoustic signals from a user and from the background. The acoustic signals from the user are enhanced using the background acoustic signals to reduce background noise. The enhanced signal are transmitted to an emergency network when an emergency call is made from the communication device. The raw signals are stored in the communication device for later retrieval or are transmitted simultaneously with the enhanced signals. The enhanced signals are transmitted using a circuit-switched voice mode while the raw signals are transmitted using a packet-switched voice mode.

Temporary storage or specialized transmission of multi-microphone signals

First location information related to a location-aware device () is gathered. Second location information for a location-unaware device () is determined from the first location information. A data structure is created comprising a binding of the second location information and an identifying parameter of the location-unaware device (). The data structure is provided in a form usable by an application.
