For producing a photovoltaic module (), the front electrode layer (), the semi-conductor layer () and the back electrode layer () are patterned by separating lines () to form series-connected cells (C, C, . . . C, C). The patterning of the front electrode layer () and of the semiconductor layer () is done with a laser () emitting infrared radiation. During patterning of the semiconductor layer () the power of the laser () is so reduced that the front electrode layer () is not damaged.

Method for producing a photovoltaic module

For the manufacture of a photovoltaic module (), there are attached to a transparent substrate () a transparent front electrode layer (), a semiconductor layer () and a rear electrode layer () which, for forming cells (C, C, . . . , C, C) connected in series, are structured by dividing lines (). A water-soluble detachment mass () is applied using an inkjet printer () to the regions of the semiconductor layer () at which the dividing lines () are to be formed in the rear electrode layer (), whereon the rear electrode layer () is attached. The detachment mass (), with the regions attached thereto of the rear electrode layer (), is removed using a water jet () while forming the dividing lines () in the rear electrode layer ().

Method for manufacturing a photovoltaic module

For manufacturing a photovoltaic module () having on a transparent substrate () a transparent front electrode layer (), a semiconductor layer () and a back electrode layer () as functional layers, the functional layers (-) are removed in the edge area () of the substrate () with a laser emitting infrared radiation. Subsequently, a back cover () is laminated on the coated substrate () with an adhesive film ().

A photovoltaic module includes a plurality of interconnected submodules. Each submodule has a transparent front electrode layer, a semiconductor layer and a back electrode layer which have separating lines in each case for forming series-connected strip-shaped photovoltaic cells. The outer cells of two adjacent submodules are united into a single tap cell for current collection, the separating lines of the two adjacent submodules being disposed mirror-symmetrically with respect to their common tap cell.

For producing a photovoltaic module (), the front electrode layer (), the semi-conductor layer () and the back electrode layer () are patterned by separating lines () to form series-connected cells (C, C, . . . C, C) with a laser () emitting infrared radiation. During patterning of the semiconductor layer () and the back electrode layer () the power of the laser () is so reduced that the front electrode layer () is not damaged.

Method for producing a photovoltaic module using an IR laser

A thin-film solar module consists of a number of solar cells tandem mounted and series-connected on a common substrate and a number of diodes disposed antiparallel and adjacent thereto. Overlap zones are formed by a projecting edge area of an electrode layer of a solar cell or diode engaging a recess of the corresponding electrode layer of the adjacent diode or solar cell. Each diode is connected in the reverse direction with the adjacent solar cell in at least two overlap zones, the front electrode layer of the diode with the back electrode layer of the solar cell in at least one of said overlap zones, and the back electrode layer of the diode with the front electrode layer of the solar cell in at least one other overlap zone. The photovoltaically active layer sequence is additionally separated by grooves in areas of the grooves of the back electrode layer.

Thin-film solar module

This solar module in integrated thin-film technology consists of a number of solar cells 11, 12, 13, 14 tandem mounted and series-connected on common substrate 1 and a number of diodes 21, 22, 23, 24 disposed parallel and adjacent thereto. Overlap zones 10, 20 are formed by a projecting edge area of electrode layer 2, 4 of a solar cell or diode engaging a recess in the corresponding electrode layer of the adjacent diode or solar cell. Each diode is connected in the reverse direction with the adjacent solar cell in at least two overlap zones, i.e. front electrode layer 2 of the diode with back electrode layer 4 of the solar cell in at least one of said overlap zones 10, and back electrode layer 4 of the diode with front electrode layer 2 of the solar cell in at least one other overlap zone 20.
