A bidirectional power supply system receives power from a low voltage (LV) primary power supply, providing power to a control unit of a LV board net in a first mode of operation. A high voltage (HV) board net is coupled to a HV traction battery. A DC-DC converter, in the first mode, transfers energy from the LV board net to the HV board net to power components of the HV board net via the primary power supply, and, in a second mode of operation, transfers energy from the HV board net to the LV board net to power the control unit via the traction battery. The bidirectional power supply system includes a measurement element to detect whether the primary power supply is lost, and a switching element to switch operation of the DC-DC converter from the first mode to the second mode, when the primary power supply is lost.

Bidirectional power supply system for powering a battery management system of an electric vehicle

A power semiconductor device includes: a power semiconductor; a base metal sheet; and a flexible printed circuit board (PCB) between the base metal sheet and the power semiconductor. The power semiconductor includes a first power pad on a side facing the flexible PCB, and the flexible PCB includes a conductive pad, one side of which is electrically connected to the first power pad of the power semiconductor and the opposite side of which is electrically connected to the base metal sheet.

An electric circuit according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes only a single amperemeter configured to measure either a positive current or a negative current through a respective measurement resistance between a respective high voltage potential and a common ground potential. Control unit for a battery system

A power supply system for a battery system of a vehicle is provided. The power supply system includes: a switch control unit configured to control a power switch to switch an external load; an electronic unit; a first power supply electrically connected to the switch control unit and electrically connected to the electronic unit; a second power supply; and a switching unit. In a normal mode, the first power supply electrically supplies the electronic unit. The switching unit is configured to, in a cold crank mode: electrically disconnect the first power supply from the electronic unit when a voltage of the first power supply drops below a threshold voltage; and electrically connect the second power supply to the electronic unit when the voltage of the first power supply drops below the threshold voltage such that the second power supply powers the electronic unit in the cold crank mode.

In a solid state switch (SSS) driver circuit for controlling a solid state switch operated as high side switch between a battery cell stack and a load, the SSS driver circuit includes: a voltage generation circuit; a switch off circuit; and a switch controller connected to a first output node and to a second output node, wherein the switch controller is configured to: receive a ground voltage via a third ground node, and a fourth control signal; and connect the first output node and a gate node of the solid state switch according to the fourth control signal.

A battery system includes a solid state switch (SSS), and a battery management system (BMS) including a gate driver and a shunt circuit. The SSS and the BMS share at least one module that is used for both the SSS and the BMS. The at least one module includes at least one of the gate driver and the shunt circuit.

A battery system for an electric vehicle, including: a high voltage (HV) battery subsystem including a battery cell stack with battery cells electrically connected between stack nodes; a low voltage (LV) battery subsystem including a LV battery and a supply node connectFed to the LV battery; a DC/DC converter with a primary coil in the HV battery subsystem and a secondary coil in the LV battery subsystem, wherein the primary coil is connected to one of the stack nodes via a switch. A battery system includes: a plurality of battery cells electrically connected to each other in series between a first node and a second node; an intermediate node dividing the plurality of battery cells into a first subset of battery cells and a second subset of battery cells; a step-down converter connected in parallel with the plurality of battery cells between the first node and the second node and having an output node; a first diode, an anode of which is connected to the intermediate node and a cathode of which is connected to the output node; and a control unit interconnected between the output node and the first node and configured to control the step-down converter.
