A wagering system including a roulette wheel, multiple balls of a first or second color, a selector for selecting a ball, and a processor that causes the system to randomly select a ball for use in the game which is determined when the selected roulette ball stops at a numbered wheel position, selects one or more side bet numbers when a side bet is placed by a player, and resolves side bet wagers as follows: side bet wagers are forfeit when a first colored ball is selected or paid at lower odds; side bet wager may be forfeit when either ball is selected and the number position on the roulette wheel does not match the side bet number; and side bet wagers are resolved at higher odds when the second colored ball is the selected roulette ball and the number position on the roulette wheel matches the side bet number.

A roulette machine having a launch device including an automatic ball-change device is described. The ball-change device includes a rotatable main wheel comprising a plurality of pockets, and a rotatable switch wheel switching between an open position and a closed position. The main wheel receives and stores a plurality of roulette balls for future use and facilitates changing of a current game ball and, with the switch wheel, delivering the roulette ball to a launch start position or other desired output. The main wheel and the switch wheel may be independently rotatable, and coordinate with one or more sensors to determine a timing and delivery of a specifically-selected game ball to start a game cycle.

Automated ball exchange and selection for roulette game cycle optimization

A single player vertical roulette mechanism is directed that includes a stand, a wheel, a rotating rim and two drive mechanisms. The wheel is configured to be mounted to the stand and rotate relative to the stand. The wheel includes a plurality of numbers corresponding to a roulette wheel. One drive mechanism is affixed to the stand and configured to rotate the wheel. A second drive mechanism is affixed to the stand and configured to rotate the rotating rim. A rotating wheel system includes face segments separated by posts positioned around a perimeter and a flexible pointer that interacts with the pegs as the wheel rotates. The system controls rotation of the wheel, randomly selects a segment at which to stop prior to the wheel being rotated based on a randomly selected friction deceleration and a randomly selected damping time constant, and controls rotation of the wheel to make it appear as though the wheel randomly stopped at the preselected segment. The system includes one or more player stations that are notified of the selected segment after the wheel is stopped. The system includes a second bonus wheel that is triggered when the selected segment is a trigger segment. The bonus wheel can be a physical wheel that is part of the wheel, a display that is part of the wheel, or displayed on a player station.

Methods are described for controlling movement of dice in a gaming system. The gaming system includes an input device controllable by a user and a platform for holding the dice. The platform may be moved up and down by a drive to cause the dice to be moved upward and thrown above the surface of the platform. Data received from the input device may be used to determine the upward motion of the platform. The data may include the distance a user is from the input device. The data may also include how hard, how far and/or how fast a user pushes the input device. Data received from the input device may not be used to determine the upward motion of the platform. The time at which the platform may be moved may be randomly determined.

In one aspect, a method for controlling movement of a dice includes causing a platform holding at least one dice to move upward with a first force. The method may further include causing the platform to move downward a first distance or over a first period of time. The method may additionally include causing the platform to move upward with a second force, with a height that the dice moves upward being configured by selecting at least one of the first force, the first distance, the first period of time, or the second force.

A single player vertical roulette mechanism is directed that includes a stand, a wheel and a motor. The wheel is configured to be mounted to the stand and rotate relative to the stand. The wheel includes a plurality of numbers corresponding to a roulette wheel. The motor is affixed to the stand and configured to rotate the wheel. A roulette ball is also fixedly mounted to the stand. A plurality of lights are fixedly mounted to the stand between the stand and the wheel. The plurality of lights illuminate the wheel so the numbers are visible to a player of the vertical roulette mechanism. A seat for a single player may also be connected to the stand enabling the roulette mechanism to be substituted for a traditional slot machine cabinet.

Methods, systems, and devices are described herein for reading at least one dice. In one aspect, a method may include transmitting an RFID signal proximate to at least one dice, for example, which is contained within a dice gaming system. The method may also include receiving at least two RFID responses, with each of the RFID responses associated with different faces of at least one dice. A first RFID response may be associated with a first signal strength and the second RFID response associated with a second signal strength. The method may further include determining which side of the dice is facing upwards based on the first signal strength and the second signal strength using machine learning.

Methods, systems, and devices are described herein for providing a selection of dice to use in a dice gaming system. In one aspect, a method for providing a selection of dice may include providing X selection items corresponding to Y separate dice systems, where each of the Y separate dice systems are configured to throw at least one dice in an enclosed space. The method may further include receiving a selection of the X selection items corresponding to the Y separate dice systems. The method may additionally include visually indicating the selection of the X selection items.

In one aspect, a dice system may include a platform and at least one member extending from the platform. The at least one member may include at least one magnet. The first magnetic movement limiter and the second magnetic movement limiter may limit movement of the member in the first and second directions.

Methods, systems, and devices are described herein for calibrating displacement of a platform for throwing dice in a dice gaming system. In one aspect, a method may include obtaining a configured platform displacement during a throw of one or more dice by the dice gaming system. The throw of the dice may be associated with at least one dice throw parameter. The method may also include measuring an actual platform displacement during the throw of dice by the dice gaming system, and comparing the configured platform displacement with the measured actual platform displacement to determine a displacement delta. The method may additionally include adjusting at least one dice throw parameter based on the comparison to decrease the displacement delta for future throws of the one or more dice.
