A vehicular alcohol sensing system includes an air sensing device disposed at a vehicular component disposed at an interior portion of a vehicle. The air sensing device captures sensor data representative of a sample of air at the vehicular component. A driver monitoring camera is disposed in the vehicle and captures image data representative of at least a head region of a driver of the vehicle. The vehicular alcohol sensing system, based on processing by a data processor of sensor data captured by the air sensing device and based on processing by an image processor of image data captured by the driver monitoring camera, determines an alcohol level of the driver's breath. The vehicular alcohol sensing system, responsive to determining that the alcohol level of the driver's breath is above a threshold alcohol level, prevents operation of the vehicle.

A method for assembling a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror mount and a mirror head. The mirror head includes a transparent mirror frame and a mirror reflective element accommodated at the transparent mirror frame. The transparent mirror frame has a patterned front side having a plurality of channels established thereat and a rear side opposite the patterned front side. An illumination source is provided at the mirror head. The patterned front side of the transparent mirror frame is patterned to reflect light emitted by the illumination source, when powered, so that an illumination pattern is visible to a person viewing the rear of the transparent mirror frame. The mirror head is pivotally mounted at the mirror mount.

Method for assembling interior rearview mirror assembly

A method for assembling a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror mount, a mirror casing, a mirror reflective element at the mirror casing, and a toggle mechanism, which includes a body portion and a toggle lever joined to the body portion. A lower pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into a lower receiving portion of the mirror casing and an upper pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into an upper receiving portion of the mirror casing. An outer surface of the body portion corresponds with adjacent outer surfaces of the mirror casing. With a pivot element of the toggle mechanism attached at the mirror mount, and when the toggle lever pivots relative to the lower receiving portion of the mirror casing, the mirror casing pivots relative to the body portion to flip the mirror head between a first orientation and a second orientation.

A method of assembling a mirror head for a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror casing, a mirror reflective element at the mirror casing, and a toggle mechanism, which includes a body portion and a toggle lever joined to the body portion. A lower pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into a lower receiving portion of the mirror casing and an upper pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into an upper receiving portion of the mirror casing. An outer surface of the body portion corresponds with adjacent outer surfaces of the mirror casing, and, when the toggle lever pivots relative to the lower receiving portion of the mirror casing, the mirror casing pivots relative to the body portion to flip the mirror head between a first orientation and a second orientation.

A vehicle mirror, in particular an (exterior) rear-view mirror, comprising a base layer made of glass, an adhesive layer on the glass, a first foil film, a first conductive layer, a first and a second alignment layer, a liquid crystal region, wherein spacers are provided in this region and the liquid crystal region is arranged between the first and second alignment layers, a conductive reflector layer, which is arranged on the side of the liquid crystal region opposite to the base layer, and a second foil film, wherein at least the first alignment layer is removed in a predetermined region, so that the crystals of the adjacent liquid crystal region are disordered.

A rear-view mirror arrangement for motor vehicles that includes a housing and a mirror assembly arranged thereon and which is to observe following traffic. The mirror assembly has a front side and a rear side, in which a reflectance thereof that it is variable by a control device. Automatically dimmable rear-view mirror arrangement for motor vehicles and method for producing a mirror assembly for a rear-view mirror arrangement

A rear-view mirror arrangement for a motor vehicle, having a mirror assembly held on a carrier plate. The mirror assembly includes a liquid-crystal cell to view following traffic, and which has a variable reflectance controllable via a control device. The mirror assembly has a transparent plate arranged on a front side thereof and a rear-side reflective coating adjacent to and pointing toward the carrier plate. The rear-view mirror arrangement is automatically dimmable and heatable, and includes an optical liquid-crystal cell to produce a permanently clear optical image for the vehicle occupant as a user. In order to provide a heatable effect, an areal heating element is arranged on the carrier plate to generate thermal radiation, and a housing gap is disposed between the carrier plate and the mirror assembly such that the thermal radiation is to transmitted to a radiation-absorbing coating arranged on a reflective coating of the mirror assembly.

Rear-view mirror assembly for motor vehicles

A device for detecting and displaying the rear and/or side traffic of a motor vehicle is to be improved upon such that the driver can safely and quickly detect the present traffic situation by way of the overall image shown, in particular when the direction of travel is changed. This is accomplished in that the device for detecting and displaying the rear and/or side view of a motor vehicle () comprises a first apparatus () for producing images of the optically detected rear view (A), one or more further apparatuses () for producing images of the optical side view (B,C) of the motor vehicle (), a display apparatus () adapted to display images or image sections of the first and/or the further apparatuses () in partial areas (T, T), and a control apparatus () adapted to select the images or image sections and to assign them to the partial areas (T, T). The images or image sections are selected according to the signals of a driving direction indicator () and/or the signals of a sensor () that represents the steering direction and are assigned to the partial areas (T, T). Also provided is a method for detecting and displaying an overall image from an image section or overlapping image sections.
