The invention relates to a full-field OCT method for generating an imaging of an ocular fundus (), in which short-coherent light () is emitted and split into an object beam path () and a reference beam path (). The object beam path () is directed onto the ocular fundus (). The reference beam path () and a portion of the object beam path () reflected by the ocular fundus () are directed onto an image sensor (), such that an interference between the reference beam path () and the object beam path () occurs on the image sensor (), wherein the reference beam path () impinges on the image sensor () at an angle deviating from the object beam path (). Before impinging on the image sensor (), the reference beam path () impinges on an optical correction element () in order to reduce a chromatic aberration within the reference beam path (). Intensity information and phase information is determined from a capturing of the image sensor. A focus-adjusted image of the ocular fundus is calculated. The invention also relates to a system that is suitable for carrying out said method. Images of the ocular fundus can be captured without the beam path being previously adapted to the refractive power of the eye lens.

The invention relates to an interferometric method, in which the light scattered by an object is imaged onto an electronic camera, wherein a sample light component is assigned to scattering sites on a sectional face in the interior of the object. A particular advantage of the invention lies in the fact that multiple parallel sectional faces can be exposed sequentially at predetermined intervals from each other in the interior of the object. This invention relates to a method for reading, while using optical interference, a barcode that extends into the depth of a substrate. The barcode is represented by an area with marks in the substrate that is partially transparent to electromagnetic radiation. It comprises two oppositely lying reflection means between which the beam is reflected, as well as a means for changing the distance of these reflection means. The reflection means are arranged at an angle &bgr; to one another which lies between 0&deg; and 45&deg; so that the incident beam is thrown to and fro several times between the reflection means, until it is finally congruently thrown back.

Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for deriving the relative position of an eye by tracking a boundary of the eye such as the limbus (i.e., the interface between the white sclera and the colored iris). A technique for tracking the position of the eye of patient comprises directing light to an annular region of the eye between the sclera and the iris and receiving reflected light from that region. The intensity of the reflected light is then measured to determine a relative position of the eye. In some embodiments, the measured region is scanned around the boundary. In other embodiments, a light spot is scanned around a substantially annular trajectory radially outward from the pupil. The signals corresponding to the intensity of the reflected light are then processed and measured to determine the eye's position. A flap of tissue covering the boundary may be automatically detected so as to selectively measure the boundary away from the flap. The invention also provides for integrating the eye tracker into a laser eye surgery system.
