A breathing mask, including a mask body having an inner area; a breathing valve configured to control the flow of breathing gas into the inner area of the mask body, the breathing valve comprising a membrane having an outer surface; and a flushing arrangement, comprising: a flushing area located adjacent the outer surface of the membrane; at least one exhalation chamber configured to receive exhaled air from the inner area of the breathing mask; and at least one channel fluidly connecting the flushing area and the at least one exhalation chamber; wherein, during user inhalation, air from the at least one exhalation chamber flows through the at least one channel into the flushing area, and during user exhalation, air from the flushing area flows through the at least one channel into the at least one exhalation chamber.

Described is a breathing system that covers a person's head with a flexible hood material. One aspect provides a protective hood, including: a flexible hood material having a closed top portion and a neck portion; a viewing window disposed within the flexible hood material; a breathing inlet disposed in the flexible hood material and providing for breathing air to enter into an interior of the protective hood; an exhalation valve disposed interior to the protective hood; and a sealing arrangement disposed at the neck portion of the flexible hood material; wherein at least a portion of expelled gas from the exhalation valve is released into an interior of the protective hood and rinses the interior of the protective hood.

The invention relates to a respiratory protection mask for a compressed air breathing apparatus comprising a pulmonary machine which is controlled by a control membrane when the wearer of the mask breathes in. According to the invention, the air outlet of the expiratory valve and the control membrane are covered by a common cover, forming a rinsing area on the outside of the control membrane through which homogeneously temperate, clean rinsing air flows from the air outlet to the air discharge openings in the cover, thereby ensuring high functionality and high service life of the membrane-controlled pulmonary machine despite extreme environmental conditions.

The support frame has a support plate with shoulder straps and to which at least one respiratory air container is fastened and from which pneumatic and electric supply lines originate. An extension plate is provided on the support plate and can be moved in a longitudinal direction and locked into various positions with supply lines attached to it. Shoulder straps can be fastened to a support free end of the extension plate.

An alignment and connection mechanism for more quickly attaching a mask-mounted regulator to the facepiece of a self-contained breathing apparatus is disclosed. The alignment and connection mechanism provides an alignment member preferably mounted on the regulator and a guide member preferably mounted on the facepiece. The user initially attaches the alignment member to the guide member at a connection point which is visible to the user through the lens of the facepiece when it is being worn. The regulator is then slid down the guide member until it is in proper alignment for connection to the facepiece.

A lung-governed breathing valve used in a breathing mask for excess pressure operation. The valve has a casing with a spring-loaded control diaphragm which divides the casing into an outer chamber connected to the outside environment and a breathing chamber for conveying the gas for breathing. The control diaphragm controls a breathing gas inlet valve via a lever system and a manually released actuating button. The control diaphragm has a resilient raised portion formed integrally thereon with a recess therein. A push-rod integrally molded on the actuating button is positively engageable in the recess of the raised portion to prevent the lung-governed valve from being accidentally released or switched from the stand-by to the operative position.
