A flow-through fluid heater comprises: a high thermal conductivity conduit-defining body shaped to provide a conduit that extends between an inlet port and an outlet port; one or more heating elements connected to the body for providing heat to the body, thereby permitting the body to provide heat to fluid flowing through the conduit; a temperature sensor connected to sense a measured temperature indicative of a temperature of the fluid in a vicinity of the temperature sensor; one or more flow rate sensors for sensing a measured flow rate of the fluid through the conduit; and a controller connected to receive signals from the temperature sensor and the flow rate sensors, the controller configured to control an amount of heat energy imparted to the fluid during a period that the fluid is resident in the conduit between the inlet port and the outlet port based at least in part on the measured temperature and the measured flow rate.

High thermal transfer flow-through heat exchanger

A flow-through heater for heating a fluid comprises: a high thermal conductivity conduit-defining body shaped to provide, within the conduit-defining body, a helical-shaped or spiral-shaped conduit that extends between an inlet port and an outlet port; and one or more heating elements operatively connected to an exterior of the conduit-defining body for providing heat to the conduit-defining body and to any fluid flowing through the conduit. Because of the high thermal conductivity of the conduit-defining body, all of the surfaces of the conduit-defining body that actually define the conduit contribute significantly to heating the fluid in the conduit. Each conduit-defining surface may contribute to heating the fluid in approximately equal proportion to its conduit-defining surface area.

A system for measuring golf swing parameter data on impact of a club face of a user's golf club with a target surface includes an absorber bag having a front facing surface with target image thereon for receiving an impact of the user's club face therewith, an anchor frame to which the bag is attached thereto, and an electronics module removably attachable to the anchor frame. The system further includes a plurality of shock mounts positioned between the absorber bag and anchor frame, and at least one accelerometer in electrical communication with the electronics module and arranged on a rear surface of the bag that measures acceleration upon impact of the club face with the absorber bag, providing a signal that is converted by the electronics module into golf swing parameter data for display to the user.

A system for measuring golf club parameter data on impact of a club face of a user's golf club with a target surface includes a static impact bag having a front facing surface for receiving an impact thereon with the club face, and a plurality of sensors for detecting force data upon impact of the club face with the front facing surface. The system includes a processor connected to sensors for receiving the force data and determining golf club parameter data related to the club face's impact with the front surface of the bag.

A portable scale is provided that includes a fulcrum, a balance beam pivotally mounted on the fulcrum, the balance beam supporting a load pan on one end and including an elongated portion having a measurement strip extending along the elongated portion of the balance beam. The portable scale includes a dynamic weight movable along the elongated portion of the balance beam. The dynamic weight includes a display unit on the elongated portion of the balance beam for detecting the location of the dynamic weight along the measurement strip, for electrically converting the location to a weight measurement, and for displaying the weight measurement. The portable scale may include luminescent material.

Portable digital readout scale

Apparatus for inspection of a cutting tool by an examination device is provided. The examination tool is preferably a camera. The apparatus includes a base and a cutting tool mounting member on the base for attachment of a cutting tool to be inspected. The mounting member is adapted to position the cutting tool at a viewing location for the camera. There is a movable arm having a mounting location for receiving the camera. The movable arm is mounted to the base for rotation such that the camera moves in a first plane that includes the viewing location. The movable arm is also pivotable away from first plane to a second plane. An aperture through the base permits observation of the viewing location by the camera when the arm is pivoted to the second plane. The apparatus of the present invention permits fast, accurate and consistent measurement of the cutting surface geometry of a cutting tool. Preferably, the mounting location for the camera is movable along the arm and includes a positioning system to automatically adjust the position of the mounting location when the arm is pivoted from the first plane to the second plane to maintain the focus of the camera. By maintaining the focus of the camera between the first and second planes, the apparatus of the present invention permits rapid and accurate inspection of a cutting tool surface using software controlled inspection systems.

An electrical apparatus useful to prepare a hot beverage from a flavor substance. The flavor substance is prepacked in single serve portions as filter units which include a filter carrier, a filter, a flavor substance and an upper closure. The apparatus has a storage tank for a liquid, a volumetric measurement tank, venting pipes that join the top corners of the volumetric measurement tank with the top section of the storage tank, a heater for the liquid and a shower head. A shut-off valve controls the flow of liquid between the storage tank and the volumetric measurement tank. The heater controls the flow of liquid from the volumetric measurement tank to the shower head. The apparatus allows the liquid to pass from the shower head through the upper closure of the filter unit so that liquid may pass through the flavor substance in the filter to form the beverage.

Electrical apparatus useful to prepare a hot beverage

In electrical epilation equipment useful to permanently remove unwanted body hair it is known to have a needle electrode to affect the immediate surroundings of the papilla. In this invention the needle electrode has been adapted to fit into the first arm of a pair of tweezers where its position can be adjusted so that the needle protrudes more or less from the tip of the tweezers first arm. This feature facilitates a consistent insertion depth of the needle into the follicles. Switches adapted to fit into the tweezers control electricity flow to the needle electrode when the tweezers is being closed to grip a hair. An indicator light adapted to fit into the tweezers monitors the presence of electrical energy at the needle electrode.

Electrical epilation

An electrical apparatus useful to prepare a hot beverage from a flavor substance. The apparatus has a flow-through heater, a container for a liquid and a cup unit for the flavor substance. A pipe joins the cup unit and the liquid container. The cup unit includes a cup and there is a filter carrier to fit in the top of the cup and to carry a filter containing the flavor substance. A passage extends through the filter carrier and is open at both ends of the carrier. A channel is formed between the base of the filter carrier and the passage. Further passages join the interior of the passage to the channel. The filter carrier has upper and lower closures. The heater unit has a container for a liquid; a heater for the liquid and a head to fit over the cup unit. The pipe extends from the heater to the head. The apparatus allows the liquid to pass from the container through the pipe through the head, into the filter and through the upper closure of the cup unit so that liquid may pass through the flavor substance in the filter to form the beverage.
