A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston crown and a piston skirt. The piston crown may include a piston head, a peripheral top land, a peripheral annular zone having a plurality of annular grooves and an annular closed cooling channel. The cooling channel may include a cooling channel base and a cooling channel cover. The cooling channel base may be arranged above the lower annular groove in relation to a region of combustion.

A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston head may include a piston crown, an encircling fire land, an encircling ring belt having a plurality of ring grooves and an encircling cooling duct disposed radially inwards from the ring belt. The cooling duct may be open in an axial direction away from the fire land and may be at least partially closed via a closure element. The cooling duct may have a cooling duct base and a cooling duct ceiling. The closure element may be arranged on the piston head to define the cooling duct base in a position above a lowermost ring groove of the plurality of ring grooves.

A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston head may include a piston crown, a circumferential fire land, a circumferential ring belt having a plurality of ring grooves, and a circumferential cooling duct. The cooling duct may be open in a direction away from the fire land and may be at least partially closed by a closure element. The cooling duct may include a cooling duct bottom and a cooling duct ceiling. The piston skirt may have at least two piston bosses connected to one another via at least two running faces. It is provided according to the invention that the at least one connecting rod eye is formed by creating a bore with a cylindrical inner contour, and coating the bore with a coating comprising a resin with solid lubricant particles embedded therein. The coating forms the at least one geometric deviation from the cylindrical inner contour of the at least one connecting rod eye.

A method for producing piston for an internal combustion engine which has a piston head that has a circumferential cooling channel as well as a combustion bowl having a circumferential bowl wall that makes a transition into a piston crown by way of a bowl edge region. The combustion bowl is formed at least in part by a piston base body and the bowl wall is formed at least in part from an insert. The insert is connected with the piston base body by means of beam welding. A lower weld seam is configured in the bowl wall, which seam encloses an acute angle with the piston center axis (M) and ends in the lower half of the cooling channel. An upper weld seam runs from the cooling channel ceiling to the piston crown and is disposed centered or radially offset toward the outside, with reference to the clear width of the cooling channel.

The hub bores are formed with a cylindrical inner contour and are provided with a coating comprising a resin with solid lubricant particles embedded therein. The coating forms at least one geometric deviation from the cylindrical inner contour of the hub bores. A method for producing a piston of the type, includes producing bores with a cylindrical inner contour and applying a coating medium comprising a resin with solid lubricant particles embedded therein to the inner faces of the bores by a coating tool, such that the resulting coating forms at least one geometric deviation from the cylindrical inner contour of the hub bores.

A multi-part cooled piston for an internal combustion engine comprises a one-piece piston upper part having a combustion bowl and an annular wall with a piston-ring part, and a one-piece piston lower part having a box-like piston skirt, and bosses to receive the piston pins joining the piston to the connecting rod and boss supports, which are joined to the piston skirt. A cooling channel is formed through the piston upper part and also the piston lower part and is limited thereby in its cross section. A reduction of the compression height and an increase of the heat load can be achieved with this piston despite increasing engine power. The piston can also be assembled without microstructural change. The piston upper part and the piston lower part are provided with support elements having seating faces, which form a first and a second seat. The support element comprising the first seat is provided with threads for screwing the two piston parts together, and in the screwed together condition of the piston upper part and piston lower part, the two piston parts are braced exclusively via the first and second seats.

The aim of the invention is to provide an easy fastening of a tubular supply or a vertical pipe in a bottom covering of a cooling chamber for pistons of internal combustion engines, e.g. in a circular covering of a cooling channel of an articulated-skirt piston. To this end, the vertical tube or the tubular supply is clipped into the bottom covering or is fastened thereto by a detent connection.
