An exhaust gas system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas treatment unit, an exhaust gas guide conducting exhaust gas to the exhaust gas treatment unit and a reactant discharge unit for the discharge of reactant into the exhaust gas guide. The exhaust gas guide includes an outer pipe and an inner pipe in a longitudinal region between the reactant discharge unit and the exhaust gas treatment unit. An external volume through which exhaust gas can flow and an internal volume through which exhaust gas can flow in the inner pipe are provided.

Exhaust gas system for an internal combustion engine

In a modularly configured exhaust gas treatment arrangement, a first module includes an entry interface and a first mixing section, a second module includes a first deflection housing and a first catalytic converter arrangement of a first exhaust gas treatment section. The second module is detachably connected to the first module and a third module includes a particle filter arrangement of the first exhaust gas treatment section. The third module is detachably connected to the second module and a fourth module includes a second deflection housing. The fourth module is detachably connected to the third module. A fifth module includes a second mixing section, a third deflection housing, and a second exhaust gas treatment section and the fifth module is detachably connected to the fourth module.

Modularly constructed exhaust gas treatment arrangement

An exhaust gas treatment assembly for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing having a circumferential wall and at least one base wall which in an external circumferential region is connected to the circumferential wall. In a housing interior space, which is defined by the circumferential wall and the base wall, at least one exhaust gas treatment unit is positioned so as to be removable from the housing. At least one base wall is an interchangeable base wall which is releasably connected to the circumferential wall via a connection assembly. The connection assembly includes a first connection portion, a first axial support portion, and on the base wall includes a second connection portion which via at least one connection member is releasably connected to the first connection portion and a second axial support portion is supported on the first axial support portion.

Exhaust gas treatment assembly

An exhaust gas/reactant mixing arrangement for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine mixes exhaust gas and reactant. The mixing arrangement includes an exhaust gas guide housing defining a longitudinal axis and having a housing wall. An exhaust gas duct is surrounded by the housing wall and exhaust gas can flow therethrough. A mixing zone has a mixing chamber formed between an upstream end wall and a downstream end wall and a reactant dispensing arrangement is supported on the exhaust gas guide housing. The reactant dispensing arrangement dispenses reactant into the mixing chamber along a reactant dispensing line in a dispensing direction. A mixture flow path leads from an inflow opening to an outflow opening and is formed in the mixing chamber. The mixture flow path has two flow deflection regions, which follow one another in a mixture flow direction and have mutually opposite flow deflection directions.

Exhaust gas/reactant mixing device

An exhaust gas/reactant mixing arrangement is for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine for mixing exhaust gas and reactant. The mixing arrangement includes an exhaust gas guide housing extending in the direction of a housing longitudinal axis and a housing wall. The housing wall surrounds and defines an exhaust gas duct accommodating a flow of exhaust gas. A mixing zone is formed between an upstream end wall and a downstream end wall arranged downstream of the upstream end wall. The mixing zone includes a first chamber and a second chamber as well as a reactant dispensing unit carried on the exhaust gas guide housing for dispensing reactant into the first chamber in a reactant main dispensing direction oriented substantially along a reactant dispensing line.

Exhaust gas/reactant mixing arrangement

An exhaust gas treatment assembly unit for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a tubular outer housing () elongated in a direction of an outer housing longitudinal axis (L), a tubular inner housing () elongated in the direction of an inner housing longitudinal axis (L), an exhaust gas treatment unit () being carried in the inner housing (), and a locking fixing device () detachably fixing the inner housing in the outer housing. The locking fixing device () includes a locking fixing element () held at the inner housing () in both axial directions with a radially outwards prestressed locking meshing area (). In association with the locking meshing area (), a locking receiving area () at the outer housing (), interacts with the locking meshing area () for holding the inner housing () in the outer housing () in at least one axial direction.

Exhaust gas treatment assembly unit

An internal combustion engine exhaust system mixer device includes a bottom element () includes a downstream rear side () and a front side (). The bottom element has a reactant introduction opening (), open to a reactant receiving volume (), and expands therefrom radially from the reactant introduction opening toward the front side. Exhaust gas passage ducts (), arranged following one another in the circumferential direction about the opening axis (A), open to the reactant receiving volume. A swirl generation element () is connected to the bottom element and encloses the opening axis. A mixing volume () adjoins the reactant receiving volume in the direction of the opening axis and is formed in the swirl generation element. A plurality of exhaust gas passage openings (), following one another in the circumferential direction, about the opening axis are provided in the swirl generation element.

Mixer device

An internal combustion engine exhaust system includes an exhaust gas treatment unit carried at a carrier. The carrier has a receiving opening (), receiving the treatment unit, with a first sealing surface () enclosing the opening. The exhaust gas treatment unit has a second sealing surface (), enclosing a treatment unit longitudinal axis, located opposite the first sealing surface. The exhaust gas treatment unit has a third sealing surface (), enclosing the treatment unit longitudinal axis. A closing element (), fixable with the exhaust gas treatment unit to the carrier, has a fourth sealing surface (), located opposite the third sealing surface. A first sealing element () is arranged between the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface. A second sealing element () is arranged between the third sealing surface and the fourth sealing surface. The first sealing element and the second sealing element are of identical configuration.

Exhaust system

An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas flow duct (), through which exhaust gas can flow in an exhaust gas main flow direction (A), and a reactant injection device () for injecting reactant in a reactant injection area () of the exhaust gas flow duct () in a reactant main injection direction (R). The reactant main injection direction (R) and the exhaust gas main flow direction (A) in the reactant injection area () are not parallel and not at right angles to one another.

A connection piece assembly unit, especially for an exhaust gas treatment device of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, includes a connection piece () with a base area () for fixing the connection piece () to a carrier assembly unit. A covering element () projects over an outside () of the connection piece ().

An exhaust gas treatment device, especially for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, includes a housing () elongated in a direction of a housing longitudinal axis (L). An exhaust gas treatment unit () is arranged in the housing (). At least one first exhaust gas guiding device () is in flow connection with an axially open axial end area () of the housing (). The first exhaust gas guiding device () provides a first flow path area () extending along an outer side () of the housing () as well as a second flow path area () connecting the first flow path area () with the axially open axial end area () of the housing ().

Exhaust gas treatment device

An arrangement () of a pipe () on a funnel () has a pipe interior space () fluidically connected with a funnel interior space (). The funnel has an integral connection piece () with two axial openings () in the circumferential direction (). A connecting sleeve (), which has a clamping collar (), which tapers towards the funnel and is formed integrally in one piece with the connecting sleeve (), is attached to the connection piece on the outside thereof. The pipe is attached to the connection piece with an end section () facing the funnel. The end section has a counterclamping collar (), which is formed integrally in one piece therewith and tapers away from the funnel. A clamp connection () has a clamp () with a ring-shaped connecting body () extending over the clamping collar () and the counterclamping collar () and prestresses these axially towards one another.

Funnel-pipe arrangement

A method for manufacturing an exhaust gas treatment device (), which has at least one ceramic substrate body () for exhaust gas treatment in a tubular housing (), includes inserting the substrate body () axially into the housing (). An axial support (), which has a supporting ring () and a ring-shaped support element () held by the supporting ring (), is inserted axially into the housing () and is positioned therein such that the axial support () transmits a predetermined axial force () to the substrate body () via the support element (). The axial support () is fixed to the housing () with the axially prestressed (predetermined axial force) positioning, in which the supporting ring () is welded to the housing ().
