A sun visor for automotive vehicles, including a sun visor body and a separate carrier body. The carrier body and sun visor body being attached to permit longitudinal translation of the visor body with respect to the carrier body while prohibiting rotation of the carrier body apart from the visor body around a swivel axis. Slide bearing rails between the carrier body and visor body permit the longitudinal translation. The arms of the U shape slide rails are cooperatingly shaped to define ball-receiving grooves which enable the translation of the visor body with respect to the carrier body. A sun visor swivel shaft is supported at one end of the carrier body. An outer support pin, supported at the opposite end of the carrier body, is also longitudinally movable with respect to the carrier body and is also received in a hole in the end of the outer support pedestal, which hole has a lateral radial opening.

Sun visor for motor vehicle having a slidable main body

The disclosure concerns a sun visor for a vehicle and concerns various ways in which a piece of covering material is clamped in place over the exterior of the sun visor body. In all embodiments, the border of the piece of material is clamped in a groove in the sun visor body. The groove may be around the periphery. Alternatively, the visor body is comprised of two facing plates and the material is clamped between the plates. Pins on one plate may hold the material in place. Various clamping devices for clamping the border of the material between the plates are disclosed, including simply clamping the two plates together with the material between them, a mortise and tenon joint at the borders of the plates, a reinforcing strip between the plates which clamps the border of the material and the material having a drawstring around its hem for pulling the border tightly into the visor body.

Attachment of covering on sun visor for vehicles

The disclosure concerns an outer support bracket for use in the body of a vehicle for supporting the outer support shaft of a sun visor. The sun visor is supported by a swivel bearing at one end and by an outer support shaft at the other end. The bracket for the latter includes a base part secured to the vehicle body and a head part swingably mounted to the base part. A support opening extending across the head part receives the outer support shaft of the sun visor body and the head part is movable for reorienting the support opening to the orientation of the outer support shaft. A radially positioned introduction slot permits introduction of the support shaft into the support opening. The head part is swingable on the base part around a semi-cylindrically curved set of cooperating surfaces on the head part and base part and the head part projects from within the base part to the exterior of the base part through an opening in the base part.

Outer support bracket for automobile sun visors

The invention concerns the swivel bearing of a sun visor for an automotive vehicle. The swivel bearing connects the body of the sun visor with a mounting shaft for the sun visor. A protective housing comprised of injection molded plastic surrounds the swivel bearing housing. The protective housing is a single piece comprised of two halves which are hinged together along one edge and are clipped together at their opposite edge to surround the swivel bearing housing. The exterior of the protective housing is profiled so that all edges, corners and any other deformed part thereof has an outer contour radius of at least 3.2 mm. for eliminating sharp edges at the swivel bearing. The protective housing has an interior contour adapted to the outer contour of the swivel bearing housing.
