An electrical connector for connecting a daughter and a mother printed wiring board. A receptacle is connected to one board on one face and to the header on the other. The header has a conductive housing with opposed end walls and a medial pin receiving wall where it is connected to the other board. The receptacle housing is electrically connected to the header conductive housing by removable springs extending from the end walls of the header housing and separate removable grounding pins extending to a printed wiring board from the medial wall.

A modular jack connector mounted on a main printed circuit board and having a receptacle into which a modular plug of an electronic component is inserted. The connector includes a housing, a first set of contacts arranged in the housing each adapted to engage one of the contacts of the plug, a second set of contacts at least partially arranged in the housing and adapted to engaging the main printed circuit board, contact coupling circuit means for electrically coupling the first and second sets of contacts, a capacitor for providing impedance to high frequency noise and interference and a metallic shield at least partially surrounding the housing and connected to a grounding region on the main printed circuit board. In one embodiment, the capacitor is a flexible laminate assembly including first and second conductive sheet members and an intermediate insulative material. Further, the capacitor has a plurality of folded pleats including a first pleat arranged at one end of the laminate assembly and a second pleat arranged at an opposite end of the laminate assembly. The first conductive sheet member is electrically coupled at the first pleat to the contact coupling circuit means, and the second conductive sheet member is electrically coupled at the second pleat to the metallic shield to thereby ground the first set of contacts through the capacitor. The contact coupling circuit means may include toroidal coil pairs which function separately as either a differential mode filter or a common mode filter.

Disclosed is an insertion and ejection printed circuit board edge connector assembly. A circuit board fits into a slot in an elongated housing, and at each end of the housing there is an ejectment mechanism having an upper engagement arm and a lateral engagement arm which is pivotally connected to the housing at a point between the engagement and ejectment arm. The engagement arm is fixed to one end of the circuit board by a flexible latch which may be disengaged to allow the ejectment arm to pivot upwardly to eject the circuit board.

The present invention provides a pin grid array (PGA) socket for electrically connecting pins of an integrated circuit to a circuit substrate. The PGA socket according to the invention includes a cover having insertion holes arranged in rows and columns for receiving the pins of the integrated circuit and a base for supporting a plurality of deflectable contacts. The cover provides a buttress extending from each insertion hole. The contacts are preferably freely supported in the base and spaced on either about 0.5 inch centers or on about 0.1 inch centers. The centerlines of the insertion holes are correspondingly spaced approximately 0.5 inches or approximately 0.1 inches. The cover preferably provides a camming means. The cover can be slidably attached to the base to permit the cover to cam over the surface of the base. When the pins have been inserted through the insertion holes, the buttresses provide support for the pins of the integrated circuit as they are moved with the cover to interface with the contacts and while the interface between the contacts and the pins is maintained.

A wire management adapter for organizing wires for presentment to a connector include a member having an array of grooves at the leading edge thereof. In one aspect, guideways are provided for positioning the wires of a cable for receipt within the grooves. The guideways accept both standard and coaxial conductors. A pocket carries a clip with insulation displacement tines to contact the braid of the coaxial conductor. In a second aspect, the member has alternating arrays of shallow and deeper grooves on each surface. The shallow and deeper grooves on each surface communicate with each other via a groove in the leading edge of the member. The shallow and deeper grooves on each surface register with the respective deeper and shallow grooves on the other surface.
