A process includes supplying a waste completion fluid including a viscosifier polymer; and treating the waste completion fluid with a non-oxidizing inorganic acid to form a metal bromide brine. The process also includes coagulating the viscosifier polymer and collecting the viscosifier polymer.

A process includes supplying a bromide brine and removing organic compounds from the bromide brine. The method also includes acidifying the bromide brine to form a stream containing hydrobromic acid and separating the hydrobromic acid from the stream containing hydrobromic acid.

Recovery of bromine from waste bromide brines

The method may include ion exchanging the intermediate modified zeolite following the reaction with the acid to form a modified zeolite catalyst.

The resulting metal oxide combined with the decomposed hydrotalcite forms the catalyst.

A method includes brominating a butanes feed stream including i-butane in a bromination reactor to form a bromination effluent stream including t-butyl bromide. The method includes dehydrobrominating the t-butyl bromide to form isobutylene. Another method includes brominating a mixed pentanes feed stream including i-pentane and n-pentane in a bromination reactor to form a bromination effluent stream including t-pentyl bromide. The method includes dehydrobrominating the t-pentyl bromide to form isoamylene and HBr.

Production of isobutylene, isoamylene, or alkylates from mixed alkanes

A reactive distillation method comprises introducing a feed stream to a reactive distillation column, wherein the feed stream comprises ethanol, contacting the feed stream with one or more catalysts in the reactive distillation column during a distillation, and removing butyl acetate during the distillation from the reactive distillation column as a bottoms stream. The feed stream reacts in the presence of the one or more catalysts to produce a reaction product comprising ethyl acetate, butanol, and water, wherein the butanol and the ethyl acetate react to produce a reaction product comprising the butyl acetate.

Production of butyl acetate from ethanol

Olefins and diolefins, such as 1,3-butiadiene, may be produced by a method utilizing a series of bromination and dehydrobromination reactions. Bromine may be reacted with n-butane to form dibromobutane. The dibromobutanes may be dehydrobrominating to form 1,3-butadiene. The method may include reacting butene with bromine to form bromobutenes, and dehydrobrominating the bromobutenes to form 1,3-butadiene. The method may include reacting butene with hydrogen bromide in the presence of oxygen to form bromobutenes, and dehydrobrominating the bromobutenes to form 1,3-butadiene. The method may include reacting butene with bromine to form dibromobutanes, and dehydrobrominating the dibromobutanes to form 1,3-butadiene.

Production of 1,3-butadiene

A method can include reacting a stream including one or more Cto Calkanes with bromine in a bromination reactor to form a bromination reactor discharge stream that includes alkylbromides and HBr. The method further includes coupling the alkylbromides in a coupling reactor to form a coupling reactor effluent comprising alkylbromides having between 5 and about 1000 carbon atoms, olefins having between 5 and about 1000 carbon atoms and HBr. The method also includes hydrogenating the alkylbromides having between 5 and about 1000 carbon atoms and olefins having between 5 and about 1000 carbon atoms to form alkanes having between 5 and about 1000 carbon atoms and HBr.

A method of purifying an ethyl acetate stream comprises contacting an inlet stream with a solvent, transferring at least a portion of the impurity compound from the inlet stream into the solvent to form an extract and a purified product, separating the extract from the purified product, separating the portion of the impurity compound from the extract, forming an impurities stream and a regenerated solvent, and recycling at least a portion of the regenerated solvent to contact the inlet stream. The inlet stream comprises ethyl acetate and an impurity compound, and the extract comprises the solvent and the portion of the impurity compound transferred from the inlet stream.

A process is disclosed that includes brominating a C, C, C, Cor Calkane with elemental bromine to form a bromo-alkane. The bromo-alkane is reacted to form a C, C, C, Cor Calkene and HBr. The HBr is oxidized to form elemental bromine.

Conversion of propane to propylene

A method comprising: providing an alkyl halide stream; contacting at least some of the alkyl halides with a coupling catalyst to form a product stream comprising higher hydrocarbons and hydrogen halide; contacting the product stream with a solid reactant to remove at least a portion of the hydrogen halide from the product stream; and reacting the solid reactant with a source of oxygen to generate a corresponding halogen.

Continuous process for converting natural gas to liquid hydrocarbons

A reactive distillation method comprises introducing a feed stream to a reactive distillation column, contacting the feed stream with one or more catalysts in the reactive distillation column during a distillation, and removing one or more higher alcohols during the distillation from the reactive distillation column as a bottoms stream. The feed stream comprises one or more alpha hydrogen alcohols, and the feed stream reacts in the presence of the one or more catalysts to produce a reaction product comprising the one or more higher alcohols.
