A vehicle suspension system may include a semi trailing arm, a coilover damper and a distributed jounce response assembly. The semi trailing arm may be operably coupled to a chassis of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) at a first pivotable connection and a second pivotable connection. The semi trailing arm may also support a rear wheel of the BEV. The coilover damper may be disposed between the chassis and a third pivotable connection on the semi trailing arm. The distributed jounce response assembly may progressively distribute a jounce load to at least two different locations within the system.

A vehicle suspension link may include a bushing, a knuckle, a link arm operably coupled to the knuckle via the bushing at a ring formed at one end of the link arm, and a coupling assembly comprising a first bushing ferrule on a first axial end of the bushing and a second bushing ferrule on a second axial end of the bushing. Each of the first and second bushing ferrules may include a serrated face disposed to face away from the bushing, the serrated face comprising serrations for embedding into adjacent components.

A vehicle suspension link may include a bushing, a knuckle, a link arm operably coupled to the knuckle via the bushing at a ring formed at one end of the link arm, and a coupling assembly disposed between the knuckle and the bushing. The coupling assembly may include a serrated face and a one-way install feature extending out of a plane of the serrated face to permit orientation of the bushing in the ring such that the serrated face is oriented toward the knuckle, and prevent orientation of the serrated face away from the knuckle.

Barriers for rear frame mounted spare tires are disclosed. An example vehicle disclosed herein includes a frame including a cross member, a spare tire, a skid plate, and a barrier extending between the skid plate and the cross member, the barrier abutting the spare tire, the barrier including a first surface having a first curvature, the first curvature concave relative to a rear of the vehicle.

A lower control arm includes a body including a body portion and an arm elongated from the body portion, and a sleeve having a tubular shape. The arm includes an end spaced from the body portion, a top surface, and a bottom surface opposite the top surface. The sleeve is fixed to the end. The sleeve includes a slit extending lengthwise that is disposed closer to one of the top surface and the bottom surface than to a middle of the end.

Lower control arm

A wheel support knuckle and trailing arm assembly that is attached to a toe link of a vehicle suspension system. The trailing arm assembly is formed by a blade member and a reinforcement member. The wheel support knuckle defines an axle bore and includes an integrally formed upper link receptacle and an integrally formed brake caliper track. The toe link is retained on the trailing arm assembly by a clevis formed by a transverse wall formed in the blade member and a parallel transverse wall formed in the reinforcement member. An alternative embodiment discloses a one-piece trailing arm that defines a clevis for connection to the toe link between a transverse wall and a tab that extends parallel to the transverse wall. A method of making cast wheel support knuckle and stamped trailing arm assembly is also disclosed.

An independent rear suspension system is provided that has a trailing arm connected between a frame rail and a wheel support knuckle. A lower control arm is connected between a frame cross member and the knuckle. The suspension system also includes an upper link that extends between the frame rail and the knuckle. The toe link and upper link are generally vertically aligned. A stabilizer bar extends between the toe link and upper link and is connected to the lower control arm outboard of the shock and spring to reduce space requirements for the suspension system forward of the wheel support knuckle. The lower control arm is elongated and attached to the frame cross member inboard of the frame rails to improve the ratio of wheel travel to shock travel.
