A method for continuous casting from molten metal, where metal flows vertically downward from a mold and the metal strip is then guided vertically downward along a vertical strand guide, cooling as it moves. The strip is then deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction. In the terminal area of the deflection of the strip into the horizontal direction or after the deflection into the horizontal direction, a mechanical deformation of the strip is carried out. The strip is cooled at a heat-transfer coefficient of 3,000 to 10,000 W/(mK) in a first section downstream of the mold and upstream of the mechanical deformation of the strip. In a second section, downstream of the cooling, the surface of the strip is heated to a temperature above Ac3 or Ar3 by heat equalization in the strip, after which the mechanical deformation is carried out in a third section.

Method and apparatus for continuous casting

A method for continuous casting from molten metal, where metal flows vertically downward from a mold and metal strip is then guided vertically downward along a vertical strand guide, cooling as it moves. The strip is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction. In the terminal area of the deflection of the strip into the horizontal direction or after the deflection into the horizontal direction, a mechanical deformation of the strip is carried out. The strip is cooled at a heat-transfer coefficient of 3,000 to 10,000 W/(mK) in a first section downstream of the mold and upstream of mechanical deformation of the strip. In a second section, downstream of the cooling, the strip surface is heated to a temperature above Ac3 or Ar3 by heat equalization in the strip. The mechanical deformation is subsequently carried out in a third section.

A device for the hydraulic positioning of structural component parts, in particular rollers of strand guide segments of a continuous casting installation, with hydraulic cylinders, each of which is divided into a cylinder space and an annular cylinder space by a piston having a piston rod. The cylinder spaces can be connected to a pressure source by of control members. Hydraulic connection lines are reduced or components used are reduced. Either the annular cylinder space is acted upon by a pressure which is adjustable but which then remains constant, while the pressure applied to the piston in the cylinder space is position-controlled or pressure-controlled, or the cylinder space is acted upon by a pressure which is adjustable but which then remains constant, while the pressure applied to the piston in the annular cylinder space is position-controlled or pressure-controlled.

Position-controlled or pressure-controlled device for the hydraulic positioning of components

The invention relates to a dummy bar () for a continuous casting installation for casting a metal strand, including a dummy bar head (), a transition piece () and a link chain (), wherein the transition piece () and/or the link chain () are made of a plurality of links () that are connected to each other in an articulated manner, and wherein the links () can be pivoted relative to each other about a transverse axis (Q) extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (L) of the dummy bar (). In order to particularly prevent internal stresses in the dummy bar when replacing parts of the dummy bar, the invention provides for at least one articulated joint () to be configured between two links () that are connected to each other in an articulated manner, such that said joint allows a relative pivoting movement of the links () about the transverse axis (Q) that is greater than any pivot angle (&#x3b1;) occurring during the use of the dummy bar (). In or on the joint (), a locking element () is displaceably arranged in a direction (T) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (L) of the dummy bar () and perpendicular to the transverse axis (Q). The locking element () can assume a position (A) in which the pivoting movement of the links () is not influenced by the locking element (), and a position (B) in which the pivoting movement of the links () is limited to a predetermined pivot angle in a pivoting direction. The invention further relates to a method of the continuous casting of a metal billet using such a dummy bar.

Dummy bar for a continuous casting installation and method of using the same

A device for coupling a coolant supply to a roller, in particular for continuous casting installations, wherein the roller is supported for rotation in a stationary pillow block, includes a sealing unit coupled to an axial roller borehole in a pressure-tight manner, and a stationary pillow block cover releasably attached to the pillow block and covering the axial roller borehole. An insert may extend through a center opening of the pillow block cover and be attached to the pillow block cover by a flange. The inside diameter of the center opening of the pillow block cover may be greater than an outside diameter of the bush to enable a removal of the sealing unit from the roller borehole without removal of the pillow block cover.

Device for coupling a coolant supply to a roller

The invention relates to a strip guide for a strip casting unit, comprising at least two segments, in particular roller segments (), each with a strip input side () and a strip output side () and a pair of roller supports, each with a number of support rollers (), running along a support region. The roller supports are adjustable by means of, in particular, hydraulic adjuster units (). According to the invention, the strip guide can be more flexibly embodied and the assembly and disassembly times reduced, whereby a mechanical connection () is provided between neighbouring segments () and, on fitting a cylinder pair () to the strip input side () of a segment (), the adjustment movement occurs both on said side (), as well as simultaneously on the strip output side () of a previous segment connected thereto. On fitting a cylinder pair () to the strip output side () of a segment (), the adjustment movement thereof affects said side (), and simultaneously the strip input side () of a subsequent section connected thereto.

A bending block for bending the rolls of cluster roll stands is rigidly connected on both sides of the chocks of the pair of rolls to be bent to the windowed housing posts of the roll housing or to units for the horizontal stabilization of the rolls. The bending block has bending jaws which are slidably guided in both bending directions and are driven by means of piston-cylinder units. The chocks or the units for horizontal stabilization have pressure receiving surfaces and the bending jaws have pressure contact surfaces which act on the pressure receiving surfaces in one or the other bending direction. Each bending jaw includes a pair of partial bending jaws which can be moved independently of each other and in opposite directions, wherein the pressure contact surfaces of each partial bending jaw corresponds to one or the other bending direction.
