Fluid is produced from a well that is equipped with a plunger lift system. The plunger lift system includes a plunger that is inserted into production tubing that is installed in the well. Liquid from a surrounding formation accumulates on top of the plunger. The liquid accumulation on the plunger is monitored. Lift gas is injected into the production tubing below the plunger to lift the plunger and accumulated liquid to surface. A wellhead assembly at surface directs the accumulated liquid away from the well, and injection of the lift gas is suspended to allow the plunger to drop back to its initial position. The timing of the lift gas injection is based on monitoring liquid accumulation, and also to maximize production from the well.

Well operation optimization

A lift gas injection system that is used for introducing lift gas into a stream of production fluid includes a lift gas injection valve. A pressure protection system guards the injection valve against external overpressure by blocking communication to inside the injection valve housing when ambient pressure exceeds a set pressure. Communication is blocked by moving a valve member so that it obstructs flow through an opening in the housing. The system includes pressure actuated valve which has a platen mounted to an end of a bellows, and a valve member coupled to the platen. Surface area is reduced on the bellows side of the platen that creates a force imbalance on the platen from applied ambient pressure. At the set pressure the force imbalance moves the platen, and which pushes the valve member against the opening. A compressible pressure compensator inside the injection valve protects against internal overpressure.

Pressure protection system for lift gas injection

A method of estimating a real time production flowrate from a well by estimating a real time flowrate of a marker fluid in the well, and comparing the estimated flowrate with a baseline marker fluid flowrate; where the baseline marker fluid flowrate correlates to baseline production fluid flowrate. The baseline marker fluid flowrate is obtained by introducing an amount of a marker fluid in the well, monitoring the time over which the marker fluid travels a set distance, and estimating a flowrate of the marker fluid based on the monitored time and amount of marker fluid. The real time production flowrate is obtained by extrapolating the baseline production fluid flowrate by an amount derived from a comparison of the baseline and real time marker fluid flow rates.

Method of wellbore operations

A system for dispensing tabs from a carrier substrate, each of the tabs having an adhesive backing for securing the tabs in spaced-apart relation to the carrier substrate. The system includes an input mechanism operative to supply an input stream of the tab stock and an output mechanism operative to accept and take away an output stream of carrier substrate from the tab stock supplied by the input mechanism. The system further includes a peeler bar having first and second surfaces disposed on the periphery of the peeler bar. The peeler bar, furthermore is interposed between the input and output streams such that the underside surface of the carrier substrate slideably engages the first and second peripheral surfaces. The first peripheral surface has an arcuate shape along an elongate axis of the peeler bar and is oriented relative to the second peripheral surface so as to effect an abrupt directional change with respect to the input and output streams. The arcuate surface imparts curvature to the tab stock in a direction tending to (i) increase the bending stiffness of each tab about an axis parallel to the elongate axis, (ii) facilitate separation of each tab from the carrier substrate, and (iii) favorably position each tab with respect to the free edges of a folded substrate material during tabbing operations.

A sheet handling device having at least one sheet feed path therethrough from an inlet to an outlet, the sheet feed path defined by a guide for directing sheet material from the inlet to the outlet. The sheet handling device comprising a plurality of processing sections located along the sheet feed path for performing a plurality of operations on sheet material being handled by the device. The processing sections including a central accumulator section, a collation section, a sheet folding section and at least one inserter section which are collectively located within a main chamber of the sheet handling device. The accumulator section is centrally located relative to the other processing sections and employs a vertically-oriented feed path to facilitate accumulation of sheet material while minimizing the spacing/gaps between adjacent sections. Furthermore, an access doorway is disposed over the processing stations to facilitate jam clearance.

A sheet feeder for feeding sheets one-at-a-time along a path having: a feeder/separator for engaging the sheets and feeding them one-at-a-time along the path whilst remaining sheets not being fed along the path are halted by the separator; and a clearance mechanism for engaging the remaining sheets and removing them from the separator region in a sheet clearance process.

A sheet handling apparatus for feeding a sequential plurality of sheets having a sheet feed path for guiding sheets in a sheet feeding direction through the apparatus, the apparatus comprising rollers for driving sheets along the sheet feed path, and a trailing edge deflector deflecting means located on the sheet feed path, the trailing edge deflector being arranged to deflect the trailing edge of a leading sheet to ensure overlap by a following sheet on a predetermined side of the leading sheet.

An accumulator apparatus for paper collations having an accumulation chamber for receiving sheet material, the chamber defined by a fixed guide on one side, a movable guide on the other side and a movable stop member at one end. Rollers are included for driving the sheet material against the stop member, and gates are provided for moving the movable guide between a first position in which it is spaced from the fixed guide by a gap sufficiently small to prevent buckling of the sheet material as it is driven by the rollers against the stop member, and a second position in which the movable guide is spaced away from the fixed guide for discharge of the sheet material from the chamber.

A moistener for applying liquid to an envelope, for use in sealing the latter, comprises a liquid storage tank () and means, such as wicks () for transporting the liquid to the envelope (not shown). The level of liquid in the tank is visible to a user through a window (). In use of the moistener it is fully inserted into a housing (not shown) but with the window visible to the user. Partial removal of the moistener from the housing permits the tank to be filled with liquid via an opening ().
