Embodiments disclosed herein relate to methods and apparatus to inhibit rotation within a drilling rig. The apparatus may include a first member connected to a first component of the drilling rig, and a second member connected to the first member and connected to a second component of the drilling rig, the second component configured to move vertically with respect to the first component. The first member is configured to move vertically with respect to the second member and the first member and the second member substantially inhibit rotation between each other. The apparatus may include a rotational adjustment system, in which the rotational adjustment system is used to connect with one of the components of the drilling rig.

Rotation inhibiting apparatus

A conductor torquing system is provided for large diameter threaded conductor casing which comprises a lower chain vise or fixed grip head adapted to grip a first joint of conductor casing, a plurality of movable arms operable to apply a retaining force to a second joint of conductor casing to maintain the latter in rotational contact with a spinning means. The spinning means is operable to rotationally make-up the second joint of conductor casing to the first joint of conductor casing to an initial make-up torque valve. The apparatus also includes an upper chain vise or rotary grip head for gripping the second joint of conductor casing and applying a final make-up torque to the threaded connection. The apparatus will allow a conductor connection to be made-up in a safe and efficient manner and generally assist in reaching the final torque stage more rapidly.

Conductor torquing system

A conductor torquing system is provided for large diameter threaded conductor casing which comprises a lower chain vise adapted to grip a first joint of conductor casing, a plurality of movable arms operable to apply a retaining force to a second joint of conductor casing to maintain the latter in rotational contact with a spinning means. The spinning means is operable to rotationally make-up the second joint of conductor casing to the first joint of conductor casing to an initial make-up torque value. The apparatus also includes an upper chain vise for gripping the second joint of conductor casing and applying a final make-up torque to the threaded connection. The apparatus will allow a conductor connection to be made-up in a safe and efficient manner and generally assist in reaching the final torque stage more rapidly.

A pushdown and rotating tool for holding, pushing, and rotating a floated casing string into a wellbore is provided. The tool includes a mandrel, a housing attached about the external diameter of the mandrel and shaped to receive a collared casing, a jaws assembly within the housing, and an automatic hydraulics system for actuating the jaws. The mandrel and housing are connected such that they can move telescopically relative to one another, and such motion actuates the jaws. The tool has a threaded coupling for a top drive connection, the top drive providing the pushdown and rotational forces which are transmitted to the casing by way of the tool. The mandrel also has an internal passage-way through its length and a male connection at the bottom. The tool facilitates floating a casing into a substantially horizontal wellbore when the casing becomes buoyant and tries to 'kick back' out of the well, or when the floated casing becomes stuck and requires rotation to extend beyond the obstacle.

Casing pushdown and rotating tool

A control line protector for securing and protecting a control line or lines to the exterior of an oil well tubing string. The protector comprises a flexible steel strap to the ends of which a respective trunnion is attached, one of which trunnions is removably mounted. The trunnions are interconnected by two screws which may be rotated to draw the trunnions towards one another, thus tensioning the strap around a length of tubing forming part of a drill string. An axially-directed channel is formed adjacent one of the trunnions to receive a control line.

Control line protector for oil well tubing string

A safety interlock between a machine guard and a machine actuator, comprising locking means for the guard and locking means for the actuator, the guard locking means being arranged, upon closing of the guard, to engage and thereby release the actuator locking means and to be held in a guard locking condition by such engagement while the machine is actuated.
