A method of decision definition using a rules vocabulary includes: receiving free form input; identifying terms contained within the free form input; searching the rules vocabulary objects for terms; responsive to the term being found, obtaining input from a user as to whether to use the found term; responsive to the term not being found; searching the rules vocabulary attributes for terms having attributes corresponding to the term; responsive to the term being found, obtaining input from a user as to whether to use the found term; and refactoring the free form input with the found term accepted by the user. The method also includes updating the rules vocabulary with the term identified in the free form input as a synonym for the term found in said rules vocabulary. One embodiment further provides a method of determining semantic equivalence between a plurality of rules using a rules database having preferred terms.

Assisted free form decision definition using rules vocabulary

A computer program product of decision definition using a rules vocabulary includes program code for: receiving free form input; identifying terms contained within the free form input; searching the rules vocabulary objects for terms; responsive to the term being found, obtaining input from a user as to whether to use the found term; responsive to the term not being found; searching the rules vocabulary attributes for terms having attributes corresponding to the term; responsive to the term being found, obtaining input from a user as to whether to use the found term; and refactoring the free form input with the found term accepted by the user. The program code also includes code for updating the rules vocabulary with the term identified in the free form input as a synonym for the term found in said rules vocabulary. One embodiment further provides determining semantic equivalence between a plurality of rules using a rules database having preferred terms.

Control of message delivery from publisher devices to a subscriber application of a messaging system is provided. The subscriber application has a subscription registered with a broker application of the messaging system and is only permitted to receive messages relating to a topic of the subscription from a predetermined set of one or more publisher devices. The method includes: altering a topic identifier of a message from a publisher device to a modified topic identifier, and altering a subscription identifier from a subscriber application to a modified subscription identifier; analyzing the modified topic identifier and the modified subscription identifier to determine if the message is to be communicated to the subscriber application, and if so, information is removed from the modified topic identifier to form a reverted topic identifier, and the message and reverted topic identifier are communicated to the subscriber application.

Message delivery in a message system

A message server includes a query store for storing query requests, value data for the query requests, and response time data for the query requests. A message is received, a query request is determined from the message and sent to a query server. A timeout period is determined from response time data stored in the query store. If no response to the query request is received within the timeout period, a value is determined from the value data for the query request stored in the query store. Alternatively, if a response to the query request is received within the timeout period, a value is determined from the response, value data for the value is stored in the query store, and response time data is stored in the query store. An action in response to the message is determined and the action is performed.

Processing a message received by a message server

A computer system determines a category of users to which a user of a computer belongs. The computer system determines a relationship between the category of users and at least one program available for installation from the computer system. Based on the determined relationship, the computer system determines that at least one feature of the at least one program are of potential interest to the user of the computer. The computer system notifies the user of the at least one feature of the at least one program of potential interest.

A method, system and computer program for processing invalid data. Data is received at a shared component for processing. A shared component is a component that is capable of being shared by multiple entities. The shared component has a plurality of threads. An attempt is made to process the data using one of the threads from the plurality of threads. The data is invalid and therefore the attempt at processing the invalid data results in the shared component and its plurality of threads failing. In response to the failure of the shared component, at least two instances of the shared component are created. At least one thread is assigned to each component instance, where the number of threads assigned to each component instance is restricted to a maximum number that is less than the original number of the plurality of threads.

Method, apparatus and computer program for processing invalid data

The present invention generally is directed to a system, method and article of manufacture for accessing data independent of the particular manner in which the data is physically represented.
