A neonate imaging system is provided. The neonate imaging system includes a neonate magnetic resonance imaging system and a mobile neonate incubator system adapted for connection to the neonate magnetic resonance imaging system. The mobile neonate incubator system has an extendable and retractable carriage configured to shuttle the neonate between the mobile neonate incubator system and the neonate magnetic resonance imaging system. A neonate magnetic resonance imaging system is also provided. The neonate magnetic resonance imaging system includes a cylindrical magnet. The cylindrical magnet has a bore with dimensions that approximate dimensions of the neonate. A mobile neonate incubator system is further provided. The mobile neonate incubator system has an extendable and retractable neonate shuttling carriage.

Magnetic resonance imaging

A gradient coil assembly and a method for manufacturing the gradient coil assembly is provided. The gradient coil assembly includes an insulator sheet formed into a tube extending along an axis. The assembly further includes a first electrically conductive sheet disposed on a first surface of the insulator sheet including a first plurality of electrically conductive paths and a second electrically conductive sheet disposed on a second surface of the insulator sheet including a second plurality of electrically conductive paths. Finally, the second plurality of electrically conductive paths is electrically coupled with a corresponding path of the first plurality of electrically conductive paths.

Gradient coil apparatus and method of assembly thereof

A system and a method for melting ice that has formed in an exhaust tube operably coupled to a container holding helium are provided. The exhaust tube is configured to exhaust pressurized helium from the container. The method includes determining when a pressure level in the container is greater than a threshold pressure level. The method further includes applying heat energy to the exhaust tube to melt ice in the exhaust tube to thereby allow pressurized helium to exit the container through the exhaust tube.

A cryogen pressure vessel assembly for a superconducting magnet comprises an inner former, an outer former, and an outer shell. The inner former has a plurality of superconducting magnet coils wound thereon, and the outer former has a plurality of bucking coils wound thereon. The inner former, the outer former, and the outer shell form a fluid boundary for a cryogen. In one aspect, a pressure face is formed on at least one of the coil formers, and a radial slot for receiving wires entering and exiting a coil is disposed in the pressure face. A plurality of wire clamps are positioned in the radial slot, with each wire clamp in the plurality of wire clamps including: a front face extending coplanar with the pressure face, a rear face opposite the front face, the rear face contacting a back surface of the radial slot, and a recess formed in the rear face, the recess forming a channel for passage of the wires.

Cryogen pressure vessel assembly for superconducting magnets

A secondary coil circuit for use with a multi-section protected superconductive magnet coil circuit is disclosed herein. The secondary coil circuit includes two circuit nodes, a ramping switch electrically connected between the two circuit nodes, and a number of secondary coils electrically connected between the two circuit nodes. The secondary coils are made of wire having substantially superconductive capability when cooled below a characteristic critical temperature level and conducting electric current below a characteristic critical current level. The secondary coils are sized and positioned relative to the superconductive magnet coils situated in the individual sections of the multi-section protected superconductive magnet coil circuit so as to functionally cooperate with the multi-section protected superconductive magnet coil circuit in producing and maintaining a magnetic field that is substantially homogeneous. In one embodiment, the secondary coil circuit is inductively decoupled from each individual section of the multi-section protected superconductive magnet coil circuit.

A gradient coil assembly and a method for manufacturing the gradient coil assembly is provided. The gradient coil assembly includes a first tube extending along an axis including a first conductor. The assembly further includes a second tube disposed generally concentrically about the first tube wherein an inner space is defined between the first and second tubes. The second tube includes a second conductor. Finally, the assembly includes a fiber composite structure disposed in the inner space operatively associated with the first and second tubes to increase a stiffness of the assembly.

An imaging system is provided comprising an imaging magnet having a magnet bore . A plurality of passive shims is positioned within the magnet bore . A plurality of resistive shims is also positioned within the magnet bore . A plurality of thermometers is coupled thermally to a select number of the plurality of passive shims and read a passive shim temperature . A controller is in communication with the plurality of thermometers and the plurality of resistive shims . The controller includes logic adapted to adjust control currents sent to each of the plurality of resistive shims in response to the resistive shim temperatures received from each of the thermometers such that the strength of the magnetic field and its homogeneity is maintained.

The invention describes an acoustic liner for use with a magnetic field gradient coil, especially for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. The liner comprises an acoustic sheet ( ), preferably of compressible material, adapted to be fitted to the gradient coil, and an acoustic conducting path ( ) for carrying an electrical current provided on or in the sheet, arranged such that in use a current pulse can be applied to the gradient coil and a current pulse can be applied to the acoustic conducting path in synchronism therewith, wherein the acoustic conducting path is arranged such that Lorentz forces on the acoustic conducting path in a magnetic field cause the acoustic conducting path to move relative to the gradient coil in such a way that the inner surface ( ) of said acoustic sheet remains substantially stationary.
