Organosilicon compositions which can be cured to produce elastomers, in particular elastomers suitable for use in the food industry, contain very fine particulate aluminum oxide powder in minor amount. Non-blocking sheets and pellets can be formed from the compositions, and later molded and cured.

Composition based on organosilicon compounds

Flame-retardant compositions contain peroxidically crosslinking, addition-crosslinking or condensation-crosslinking silicone rubber and at least one rhodium compound or iridium compound or mixtures of the two. The compositions exhibit increased flame retardancy as compared to similar compositions containing platinum complexes, and especially when used in conjunction with the latter, produce stable ceramic layers upon combustion.

Cable components of silicone elastomer contain glass fibers having an average length of at least 1 m. The cable components retain substantial strength when exposed to heat or fire.

Pelletized organopolysiloxane material

A polyorganosiloxane containing the units (HR Si&mdash;O ) HM units, (Si&mdash;O ) Q units, (R Si&mdash;O ) T units and (R Si&mdash;O ) D units in a ratio of from 2:1:0:0 to 6:4:2:2, or (HR Si&mdash;O ) HM units, (R Si&mdash;O ) T units, (R Si&mdash;O ) D units and (R (R O)Si&mdash;O ) in a ratio HM:T:D:alkoxyM of from 1:2:0:0 to 3:4:2:2 is described, where R are identical or different, non-halogenated or halogenated hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms per radical, or are OR , where R is a monovalent, unsubstituted or substituted hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and in each molecule there are at least 3 Si-bonded hydrogen atoms. The polyorganosiloxanes are particularly useful as crosslinking agents in addition curable elastomer formulations.
